We’ve always been interested the use of lime and working with it to breath some life back into old fire places that have seen hundreds of years of use.

It was great to get this project finished this week using Cornish Lime putty. All joints raked out and some little repairs filled where packers had come loose.

We had to be quite clinical with keeping the customers lounge clean as it was fully furnished so most of the digging out was done by hand.

We think the finish speaks for itself compared to the before picture.

Getting crafty with the trim angles on this Specflue termatech TT21 classic.

So often we just see the felt ripped back and batten cut out with nothing to support the back slates.

I always try and post the full process and not just a pretty fire with who knows what hiding up in the loft.

When we lined this chimney a couple of years ago we advised the customer it needed a bit of love. What we didn’t foresee was that the soakers joining into next doors property had completely rusted away and were made of roof tin sheet ! We didn’t charge either side any extra labour and got that sorted before a re- render of the existing chimney and removal of the thermlight block top section.

Any repair work rendering or re builds we have very limited Availability before October

Another clean looking Pevex Stoves serinity 40 fitted in tremar last week. We have been fitting lots of insets this summer as they are a perfect fit for the 16x22 openings found in most 1960-1990 builds found around the south east Cornwall area.

Full rake out and re point of this washed out old brick chimney. Luckily the bricks were still ok and not spalling. Good bit of preventative work mitigating the need for a full re build down the line.
