🌿 Summer Ready? ☀️

Spring is beginning to break through, which means summer isn’t far behind! Is your garden ready to enjoy those long sunny days?

Here are some photos from one of our recent landscaping projects. We replaced the sleepers, installed proper drainage for the beautiful limestone slabs, and built a bespoke pergola to create the perfect outdoor space.

To the rescue 💪

This permeable block paved driveway was moving and needed addressing. We lifted the paving, and found 400mm of excess stone with no hardcore. We rebuilt the sub-base in correctly compacted layers, and relaid everything for a long-term fix.

We also widened the entrance and prepared an area for planting to complete the look.

Getting the foundations right is key.

Stepping back in time…
We were back in Saffron Walden today finishing off some timber work and clearing the cellar. I’d love to say we uncovered historic treasures dating back centuries, but instead it was a very honest collection of 1980s rubbish — Marathon bar wrappers, Schweppes Shandy, Lucozade cans and KP crisp packets.

That said, clearing it all away to reveal the original brick floor makes a massive difference. Sometimes the real history is what’s been hidden all along.

Out of sight, out of mind.

A nice little job creating a bin storage area for this property in Cambridge.

We cleared part of the hedgerow to make way for a concrete pad, then finished it off with feather edge fencing to keep everything neatly tucked away.

New year, new project! 👷‍♂️✨

We’re starting 2026 with an exciting project in the heart of Saffron Walden, stripping out one of the old shops to create Arkwright & Co’s new offices.

We love working in older buildings, especially when we uncover forgotten cellars that haven’t been accessed for years — always a great part of these town-centre projects.

This project includes:
✔️ Strip out of old changing rooms & staff kitchen
✔️ New stud walls & plasterboarding
✔️ Painting & flooring throughout
✔️ New staff bathroom & kitchen

☀️ Perfect Summer Treat ☀️
We were so tempted to jump in during this project—it’s hard to resist when you’re working poolside! 🏊‍♂️💦

The pool was already in place, and our job was to bring the whole area together with a new decking border, slabbing, and fitting the runners and dome system.

We used a mix of old slabs the customer already had and new ones to complete the look. The dome and runners were second-hand, but with a few tweaks, we got everything running smoothly. Now it easily folds back for soaking up the summer sun—or provides shelter when the weather turns.

This space is now a beautiful, functional area that can be enjoyed all year round. 🏖️🌤️❄️

New Project Started!

We’re excited to start a brand-new job this week. This project involves building a retaining wall through two gardens, using a combination of new and existing sleepers.
But that’s just the beginning — we’ll also be:

✅ Installing drainage to manage surface water effectively
✅ Laying a brand new patio that will transform the outdoor space
✅ Constructing a beautiful pergola to provide a shaded retreat
We can’t wait to show you the finished results!

Hello, we’re still here!

It’s been a while since we’ve posted, but we are still here. We’ve had a few big jobs that, for various reasons — either because the customer didn’t want us to post or due to confidentiality — we haven’t shared. The main one being Rainbows Abington… and yes, we have taste-tested everything! If you haven’t been, please pay a visit — the food is delicious. 😋

Here are a few pics of some smaller jobs we’ve done recently. Firstly, a bit of feather edge fencing with new concrete spur posts, replacing an old panel fence. Secondly, a path and bench area using slabs the customer had left over — very satisfying using up old materials to create a new space.

Another finished project by the team!

The finished result provides such a difference to the landscaping here, along with a practical working area in the greenhouse 🪴

👀 Progress photos! 👀

We are building a flat roof extension, with large bifold doors to the front and window to the side for this client.

It’s really starting to come together and will be a great addition to this house 🏠

The finished project photos for this lovely bungalow 🏡

The team have worked together to sand, treat and paint all of the wooden areas, making sure to replace any rotten wood found along the way.

The feather edged fence has been changed for a new post and rail fence and all guttering has been replaced.
