And that’s a wrap on the knock-through project in Newport 😁

This was a large transformation project consisting of:

* Knocking through internal walls
* Installation of a 152x89 RSJ
* Knocking out an external wall for new French doors
* Bricking up an existing external doorway using matching colour and texture bricks
* Re-boarding ceilings
* Fire boarding the RSJ
* Rewiring kitchen lighting including installation of a new breaker in the consumer unit (fully signed off)
* Gas isolation works (signed off)
* Full re-plaster throughout
* Self-levelling the floor ready for the next stage

A massive thank you to my lads who really pulled together to get this one over the line during the heatwave we’ve just had — definitely not easy conditions to work in, but everyone grafted hard and got it done 💪

Another huge thank you to our customers for putting their trust in us. Following this project, we’ve now been asked to return to install their kitchen, build a media wall in the living room, and complete their bathroom renovation in the future — support like that means everything to a small business.

Great first day on site at our latest renovation project.

Like most major refurbishments, the job came with a few unexpected surprises straight away. We uncovered hidden gas pipework within the wall during demolition works, which meant stopping immediately and arranging an emergency gas engineer call-out to make everything safe before continuing.

We also discovered that the structural engineer’s original information was incorrect, which unfortunately led to unnecessary spending on steelwork that, after further investigation, wasn’t actually required for the project. We’re currently in the process of chasing this up and getting things resolved properly.

That said, this is all part of working on older properties and refurbishment projects — once you start opening things up, you never truly know what’s hiding behind the walls until the work begins. The important thing is dealing with problems correctly, safely, and professionally as they arise, rather than cutting corners just to keep things moving.

Despite the early setbacks, it’s still been a really productive and positive first day on site, and we’re happy with the progress made already.

So far we have:

✅ Removed one internal wall to open up the space
✅ Formed a brand new French door opening to the rear of the property
✅ Prepared two existing doorways ready to be blocked up
✅ Begun structural alterations and opening-up works
✅ Cleared and prepared the site for the next phase of construction

You can already start to see the transformation taking shape, and this property is going to look completely different once the refurbishment is completed.

Projects like this involve a huge amount of planning, structural work, problem solving, and attention to detail behind the scenes — but this is exactly the kind of work we enjoy doing.

Doorway Knock Through – Barry, Wales

Another tidy knock-through completed in Barry, Wales 👌

This project was completed over 3 days and went as smooth as you could ask for. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for better customers – great people, good banter, and a pleasure to work for from start to finish (shame it had to end so quick!).

This was a fairly standard doorway knock-through, completed safely and professionally for a total of £1550.

This project included:
• Complete new electrical installation
• Fresh plastering throughout
• Custom hand-built wardrobe
• High-end paint finish
