Are you also making this lighting mistake?
Here’s a simple fix ⬇️

Always aim to illuminate your room with at least five different light sources:

1️⃣ A ceiling light for general lighting.
2️⃣ A floor lamp for task lighting and reading.
3️⃣ A table lamp for ambient lighting and a cosy evening atmosphere.
4️⃣ A spotlight to draw attention to your artwork, sculptures, or architectural features.
5️⃣ An LED strip to highlight key elements with soft, indirect light that isn’t glaring.

💡This way, you’re creating layers of light that reach every corner of the room, making the space feel warmer, more balanced, and more inviting.

👋 These are exactly the kinds of details that an experienced architectural designer can help you incorporate into your home through thoughtful lighting design, space planning, and interior design.

This 4-bedroom house didn’t have a single proper bathroom... until I did my magic. ✨

The original first floor had:

• A master with an awkward “en-suite” (no toilet)
• A family bathroom with no toilet
• A separate WC
• An oversized, wasted hallway

By remodelling just a few walls, I was able to create:
✅ 2 proper en-suites
✅ A fully functional family bathroom
✅ A walk-in wardrobe for the master suite
✅ A more efficient layout with far less wasted space

And the best part?
Not a single bedroom was lost.

💥 This is what thoughtful layout design can do—unlock hidden potential, improve how a home works, and add value without extending it.

👋 This is exactly what I do professionally: helping homeowners rethink their layouts before committing to expensive building work.

All without extending the house ⬇️

This split-level Victorian terrace was giving way too much space to the bathroom.
But the tricky part wasn’t shrinking it.

The tricky part was figuring out what to do with the rear extension.

It was too small for a kitchen-diner, but there wasn’t enough budget to extend.
So here’s what I did instead 👇

✨ I shrunk the oversized bathroom into a downstairs cloakroom and moved the shower upstairs, where it belongs.

That freed up the entire extension for a new kitchen connected directly to the patio, making the garden feel like part of the living space.

And because the original kitchen was no longer needed, there was still enough room for a formal dining area connected to the front reception room, plus a small laundry cupboard.

⚡️ All of that without extending a single square metre.

Why this “3-bedroom” house isn’t really a 3-bedroom house 👇

The smallest room is less than 2 metres wide and can only be accessed through the main bedroom.

So as an interior designer, instead of forcing an awkward third bedroom, I’d rather create a proper primary suite with an ensuite bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe.

Because good interior architecture isn’t about fitting in as many rooms as possible.
It’s about creating spaces that genuinely improve the way you live.

ONE WALL ⚡️

The biggest problem with this home wasn’t the size.
It was the layout.

The kitchen was long and narrow, feeling more like a hallway than a place you’d actually want to spend time in.

The two reception rooms were disconnected too, making the downstairs feel like a collection of random spaces rather than one home that flowed together.

So I redesigned the floor plan to create:
✅ A much larger kitchen
✅ Open flow between the front and rear reception rooms
✅ A downstairs WC
✅ Better use of the existing space

And the best part?
I achieved all of this by moving and building only a few walls.

💥 This is why layout design matters so much.
You don’t always need an extension to transform a home. Sometimes the space you need is already there — it just hasn’t been arranged properly.

👋 If we haven’t met, I’m Nicole. And I redesign two floor plans every week.

The owner only wanted ONE extra ensuite ✨

But after looking at the floor plan, I realised there was a much bigger opportunity hiding in the layout.

The original first floor had:
• 1 master bedroom
• 2 smaller bedrooms
• An oversized family bathroom
• Rooms that were much larger than they needed to be

By reallocating the space more efficiently, I was able to create:

✅ 2 new ensuites
✅ A walk-in wardrobe for the master suite
✅ Turned a single bedroom into a double
✅ Better use of the existing floor area

And the best part?
No extension was required.

💥 And this is how a simple layout optimisation can increase the value of your property and give you a much better use of space.

Most homeowners focus on finishes, kitchens and bathrooms, but the floor plan has the biggest impact on how a home functions and how much value it can deliver.

Sometimes the extra space you’re looking for is already there.

It just hasn’t been allocated properly.

11.5sqm of extra space was hiding in this hallway 👇

The original floor plan had an oversized L-shaped hallway that wasn’t adding any real value to the home.

By moving just a few walls and rethinking how the space was allocated, I was able to create a brand-new bathroom and utility room without extending the property.

The best part?
The space was already there.
