Many slugs and snails feed on decomposing organic matter, such as dead leaves, dung, and even dead slugs and snails. They are beneficial animals to have in a garden as they are a valuable part of the composting process – that’s why you’ve probably seen them feasting in your compost bin, helping to turn plant waste into compost for gardeners to use.

Nigella damascena, love-in-a-mist, or devil in the bush, is an annual garden flowering plant, belonging to the buttercup family.
In this garden we have planted all plants and this Nigella from seeds is actually coming back for a 3rd year! Light blue flowers turn in to this lovely seed heads.🌿

🪲This lady beatle protected the waste bag!

Stag beetles actually spend most of their lives underground as grubs, living in and feeding on old trees and rotting wood. In fact, they can remain as larvae for a whopping 6 years! Once they pupate and turn into adults their lifespan is somewhat shorter, emerging around May with just enough time to find a mate and the female to lay her eggs before dying off in August.
Once synonymous with late summer evenings, flying around clumsily in search for mates, their numbers are now in severe decline due to habitat loss, increased predation and development. Stag beetles are now a protected species and classified as nationally scarce. Although their numbers have declined in Essex, keep your eyes peeled for them in woodlands, parks and gardens.

I did these stunning custom hanging baskets for a client, and I’m absolutely in love with how it turned out! Those crisp white petunias are perfect against the teal door, and the peach and pink accents add the sweetest touch. It’s such an inviting entrance. What do you think of this summer colour combo? 🌿
