Make a wildlife pond in your garden to encourage frogs, newts, hedgehogs and birds. It doesn’t matter how big your garden is, there is always room for even just a bowl of water. This one is made from a horse feed bucket that has been sunk into the ground and edged with logs. Also logs placed inside so that creatures can access the water without falling in.
Give it a go and see who arrives! 🐸🦔

Planted up an old ‘butler’ style sink at the weekend with hardy succulents.
Plenty of horticultural grit was added for drainage . Once established, this should not need to be watered very often. Always thinking of ways to save water! 💦

Fatsia japonica ‘spiders web’, heuchera, hosta, tiarella and hardy fuchsia. I have used natural wool pellets around the top off the plants to deter slugs.

Traditional hanging baskets can be beautiful, but need a lot of looking after, feeding and watering. This year I am trying something new, a succulent hanging basket. Hopefully less watering and storing over winter in the greenhouse ready to bring out for the following year. Let’s see if it works.
