Eco-Logical Developments Ltd was formed in 2006 by Bob Adams and Eddie Mathieson to create a Property Development Company which would encompass their passion for high quality, well constructed housing utilising renewable energy. Bob and Eddie have worked previously when Bob was Partner/Director in leading Edinburgh Architectural Practices and Eddie was General Manager/Associate Director with Mille

r Construction and Miller Homes. Both are very much hands-on, working on site to ensure that the required quality and co-ordination is achieved. Eco-Logical Developments Ltd is a property company formed specifically to develop private housing developments incorporating energy efficient design and renewable energy technologies.The development at Capelaw View, Edinburgh uses renewable energy for the total heating requirement as well as the domestic hot water requirements. Over the last few years Eco-Logical Developments have been developing the concept for an energy efficient home. After extensive research it has been concluded that, due to its extremely low heating demand, it is appropriate to heat a home using one geothermal borehole. The Capelaw View development comprises 10 houses in two blocks, one of six units and one of four units designed to incorporate their own independent renewable heating system. The geothermal heating is provided by a ground source heat pump fuelling an underfloor heating system and all hot water. This is complemented by a design that incorporates mostly concrete walls and floors to retain heat ensuring stable ambient temperatures.
