Ever look at a tree like this and wonder how long it's got left? 🌳

This one is completely dead, with old limbs already snapped off and a big split opening up at the base. Trees in this state can drop branches, or the whole top, with no warning at all, and it only takes a bit of wind.

The safest way to deal with it is to take it down in sections, bit by bit, before it decides to come down by itself. Much better on our terms than the tree's.

Ever wonder how a big lump of timber comes down without flattening the garden underneath it?

This is the bit most people never see — our specialist winch and lowering kit strapped tight to the trunk before a single cut is made. This tree was hemmed in by fences and a log store, ivy right up the stem, so there was no room to just drop it. Every section gets roped up, taken on the winch and lowered down nice and steady. Nothing dropped, nothing damaged.

It's slower and it's more gear to lug in, but on a tight plot in Congleton — or anywhere across South Cheshire — that's the difference between a tidy finish and a smashed fence.
