How much does a full house rewire actually cost?

This full house rewire came in at around £16,000, but this was a listed 6-bedroom Victorian property over in Riding Mill spread across 4 floors.

The customer was renovating the full property and wanted to future-proof the electrics throughout, with around 1,800 metres of cable used across the installation — compared to roughly 400–500 metres in a more standard house rewire.

The full rewire was completed in around a week by the team.

Recently completed this full house rewire at a listed 6-bedroom Victorian property over in Riding Mill.

Spread across 4 floors, this was one of the larger domestic rewires we’ve carried out recently, with the customer renovating the full property and wanting to future-proof the electrics throughout.

Because the property is listed and still has a number of original internal features, a lot of planning and care went into the installation to make sure everything was completed as neatly as possible while preserving the character of the property.

The full rewire was completed in just 1 week and also included supplying power out to a detached garage along with installation of an Ohme ePod EV charger.

Failed EICR Rewire in Wallsend

This empty property in Wallsend recently failed its EICR despite having a newer consumer unit fitted around 10 years ago.

After properly testing the installation, we found issues with the existing wiring and a couple of circuits that were no longer complete, so the property’s now booked in for a full house rewire.

This is something we come across quite a lot in older properties across the North East — newer fuse boards fitted onto much older wiring.

Here’s an EV charger installation we recently carried out in Jarrow.

The customer went with an Ohme Home Pro with a 5 metre tethered cable, compatible with all major charging tariffs including Octopus.

We also installed a separate consumer unit with RCBO and surge protection next to the electric meter to keep everything safe and compliant.

We aim to install EV charge points within 1 week of quote acceptance where possible.

We’ve just started a full rewire on this 5-bed house, built around the 1960s – so definitely due an upgrade.

This one’s a full rip-out and rewire, bringing everything up to current standards, with plastering included so it’s all left tidy once we’re done.

The landlord will be renting the property out.

One of our electricians carried out a full EICR in Rothbury, near Morpeth, Northumberland, earlier this week.

We found a few issues:
- The reading from the earth rod was sky high
- No earth bonding to gas and water
- Old consumer unit without any RCDs or Surge protection (separate RCD has failed).
- A few cracked sockets
- Low insulation resistance reading on a socket circuit.

All other circuits tested out fine, above 200 megohme for insulation resistance.
