The original kitchen was dark, dated and undersized for the house. Good bones, but a layout and finish that had not been touched in years.

We extended the rear to create more space, reconfigured the room, and fitted a new kitchen throughout: pale grey shaker cabinetry running the full length of the room, white quartz worktops, a central island with breakfast bar seating, integrated appliances, and large windows flooding the space with natural light.

Warm wood-effect flooring and a duck-egg accent wall complete the room. The glazed doors open to the garden.

The project is at the smaller end of our typical scope. But of course, the standard of finish is not.

One steel-framed grain store. Five units. Work has begun!

An existing agricultural building of around 1,000m2 in the South Downs is being stripped to its structural frame, reclad entirely in high-performance composite panels to roof and walls, and divided into five separate spaces. Each unit will be fitted with new electric installations, toilet facilities and independent roller shutter access doors. A large roof-mounted solar array will form part of the final specification.

The existing single-storey side extension here was demolished entirely. In its place, an imposing two-storey addition in a traditional external oak frame.

Vertical oak cladding sits above red brick at ground level. Floor-to-ceiling glazing runs within the oak frame. Anthracite grey aluminium sliding doors open directly to the garden. A Juliet balcony faces the first floor.

The original oast tower remains to one side, its conical slate roof and white cowl exactly as they have always been. The new addition brings the scale, light and layout the property always deserved.

A first look at a full commercial refurbishment in the Kent countryside.

This existing two-storey office building was stripped back to bare bones and rebuilt internally and externally, with the scale of the work going far beyond a cosmetic upgrade.

The exterior brings together western red cedar cladding, a full glass curtain wall to the gable end, aluminum brise soleil solar fins and an optimised roof-mounted solar panel system.

Inside, the standout feature is a bold spiral staircase, set within a contemporary office space with acoustic ceiling panels, exposed galvanised MVHR ductwork, glass office partitions and a dark stone-effect kitchen.

Preserving history while shaping a new chapter is always an exciting challenge.

Over a period of time, our team transformed a Grade II listed home in Cranbrook, beginning with the conversion of a garage into a beautiful annexe before undertaking a full renovation of the main house.

Working closely with the Architect and Conservation officer, we modernised and adapted the property while carefully preserving its historic fabric. Every decision was guided by our client’s vision of custodianship and evolving the home sensitively, with respect for its past and promise for the future.

This country home in Groombridge had a good rear elevation but very little connection to the garden behind it.

The solution was a single-storey rear extension with a zinc standing seam roof in pigmento grey, full-height sliding glazed doors across the back of the house, and a new open-plan kitchen and living space that opens directly onto the garden terrace.

The zinc roof was the defining material choice. It reads as clearly modern without competing with the original farmhouse, and takes the light differently at different times of day.

This building dates to 1510.

At its heart is a historic barn, and above the roofline, a clock tower whose original mechanism was carefully removed, entrusted to a skilled horologist for restoration, and returned to exactly where it belongs.

The full refurbishment of the main house and annexe involved bespoke oak joinery to every door, staircase and window, a sandblasted feature wall opening the original building fabric to view, exposed beams retained throughout, and contemporary Crittall-style glazing introduced to the annexe.

This extension to a traditional oast house in Tunbridge Wells is one of our favourites.

The brief was to introduce a contemporary addition that could hold its own alongside one of Kent's most distinctive building forms. The answer was vertical T&G cedar cladding, aluminium windows and doors, and a Westwood Wecryl roofing system - clean, considered, and confident without competing with the oast.

Inside, a completely new open-plan kitchen and living space connects directly to the garden through full-width glazed doors, bringing light and flow to the whole ground floor.
