The biggest extension mistake? Starting with size.

Most extension briefs begin with a dimension:

“We want to go out 3 metres.”
“Can we extend 4 metres?”
“What’s the maximum planning will allow?”

But size is only one input. A large extension can still leave you with a dark room in the middle of the house, awkward routes through the kitchen and expensive space that adds little to daily life.
Before deciding how far to build, test three routes:

1. Rework the existing footprint.
2. Add a compact extension that solves the key problems.
3. Compare it with the maximum sensible extension.

Judge each option on daylight, flow, storage and likely cost — not just square metres.

Sometimes the biggest option is the right one. It should be the conclusion, not the assumption.

Let’s talk about what’s happening behind that stunning new facade in Leigh.

For this complete remodelling project, our clients wanted to achieve a clean, striking aesthetic with a beautiful off-white render finish and high-contrast black windows. The project comprises a new roof with dormer windows, a single storey rear extension, full internal and external remodelling.
