'Empire Biscuit'

This wee biscuit remains a firm favourite in Scottish baking culture.
You'll be hard pushed not to see it in any high street bakery.
Next time I might paint with a glace cherry - keep everyone happy 😁.

All things Fondant Fancies!
I've painted many over these past couple of years and I don't think I'll be stopping anytime soon.
I'm gearing up to start a whole series of the mini paintings again as I know these make great Christmas gifts, so I'm cracking on early to avoid overwhelm and exhaustion on November/December.

At the moment the only fondant fancy item I have available is my giclee print - which is available direct from the website (see link below)

Some of the lovely food sculptures that are being collected today.

I particularly loved creating the Custard cream as I am fascinated with the beautiful design that appears on this famous biscuit.
Apparently the Victorian's were fern obsessed so the swirly pattern you see is actually the plant unfurling.
I also have a huge soft spot for ferns as they adorned my childhood garden growing up but I sneakily dug some of them up when the house went on the market 😁. I now have my own garden full of ferns 🌿🌿🌿 (they don't half spread!)

Funny how a little biscuit pattern can hold so many memories.

All decorations are created from polymer clay and painted with acrylics. Attachments on back for hanging straight on your wall.

When I painted this battenburg cake, I chose to use one of my late Gran's vintage plates as background.
She always knew how to put on a great spread when we were little and this cake was always present amongst many other colourful sugary treats.
Do they trigger your own happy memories?
