Lovely little job, customer couldn't leave the house as their keys would not come out of the cylinder, both internally and externally.

Simply, the lock had failed, we removed and replaced it with a new higher graded lock and cut 3 extra coded keys to make 6 total for the customer and family members.

A bit of fun at one of our regular work sites with our little helper as its spring half ter. Sedgefield Racecourse had 2 new sets of patio doors installed, but the supplier couldn't provide the Master keys or locks, hehe, but we can.

We removed the 3 star locks and supplied and installed the patented, registered locks with 4 new Master keys.

We also cut a few more keys whilst one site for the shutters.

Fun in the sun ☀️, today's weather is a bit cooler, thankfully.

Today, we had to help a customer whose door was repeatedly kicked by unruly youths last night, and the mechanism failed. The bottom hook had become jammed, and the customer was locked in.

None destructive entry, replaced the hook and deadbolt, replaced the bottom hook guide arm, serviced, levelled, adjusted the door, and got it working 100% again.

Perfect weather for BBQs, garden days, cold drinks, and finally pretending the UK has turned into the Costa del. 😎🍔🍹

What a glorious day 29 Celsius was highest on the van. 🌞 ☀️ 🌤 🌅

One we had the pleasure of attending for a friend who's also a landlord.

His tenants both forgot their keys and closed the automatic locking door when walking to work oooppss.

Picked open took us 5 mins as it's a nice high security lock that we fit a few years ago.

Where has the sun 🌞 gone? This cloud ☁️ cover and drizzling on off rain 🌧 need to do one ASAP.

One for our friends at Harvey's Electrical Services in Darlo.

One of the lads managed to snap the only key for one of the works cars, we dismantled the old key, rebuilt it into a new shell, cut a new blade, and ensured it was working 100%.

It was a warm but overcast day, one we attended in Ingleby. The customer's patio door had failed, none destructive opening and a full live for like mechanism strip installed.

When a customer says they're having trouble with the door and their builder friend has a go at fixing it 🤔.

We turned up to a fully disassembled locking strip 🤬.

We rebuilt, refit the strip, and serviced the door and boom no problem 😊.

Not many people know we can replace Double glazed units up to 1m by 1m, and again most people just think there are 1 or 2 types of glass, below are examples of the types of unit we can get.

🔍🪟 DOUBLE GLAZING DECODED 🪟🔍

Not all glass is created equal. Some keeps your heat in, some keeps burglars out, and some politely tells outside noise to do one. 😄

Here’s a handy guide to the most common types of glass you’ll find in double glazed units and what they actually do:

🛡️ TOUGHENED GLASS
Also called safety glass.
Designed to shatter into small, blunt pieces instead of dangerous shards. Often required in doors, low windows, and conservatories.
Think of it as the “break safely, not dramatically” option.

🔒 LAMINATED GLASS
Two sheets of glass with a tough plastic layer sandwiched in between.
Even if smashed, the glass tends to stay stuck together, making it harder to break through. Great for security and noise reduction.
The bodyguard of the glazing world. 👔

🔥 LOW-E GLASS
“Low emissivity” glass with a special invisible coating that reflects heat back into your home.
Helps improve energy efficiency and keeps heating bills from behaving like launch codes. 🚀💷

🌞 SOLAR CONTROL GLASS
Designed to reduce heat from the sun entering the building.
Perfect for conservatories and sun-trap rooms where summer can feel like being slowly toasted in a greenhouse baguette oven. 🥖☀️

🔇 ACOUSTIC GLASS
Specially designed to reduce outside noise.
Ideal if you live near busy roads, pubs, train lines, or that neighbour who thinks lawnmowers are a dawn activity.

🪞 OBSCURE / PRIVACY GLASS
Patterned or frosted glass is often used in bathrooms and front doors.
Let's light in while keeping wandering eyeballs out. 👀🚫

❄️ ARGON FILLED UNITS
Not actually a type of glass, but many modern double glazed units are filled with Argon gas between the panes to improve insulation.
Invisible science doing invisible science things. ⚗️
