PLEASE SHARE: Can you help our Emergency Department (A&E)?
We are making a urgent plea on behalf of A&E for the return of any crutches that have been given out to patients and are no longer required. A&E are currently spending £2,000 a month on replacing crutches, which are provided to patients to use until they are able to walk unassisted. The expectation is that the crutches will be returned when no longer needed. Other hospitals require a deposit which is refundable on the return of the crutches and we are trying to avoid introducing this. This ensures that everyone can benefit from the same service, no matter what their financial circumstances.
If anybody has crutches which are no longer being used, please return them asap. They can be handed in at the A&E reception where they will be cleaned and given a “health check” ready for other patients who need them.
Every item A&E receives back saves money, which could then be spent on other emergency equipment.
Thank you for your help which is appreciated.
POST NOTE: Thank you to all of those people who have tried to return crutches in the past and been given conflicting information. We do appreciate your trying to return them. If you still have them in your possession please take them directly to the A&E Reception desk where they will happily take them from you. Thank you.
