There’s always plenty going on at the Shed😊

This week, some of our members have been spending some time working on their own personal artistic project, filling the pages of their sketchbooks while enjoying a brew and a chat. It’s a great reminder that the Shed is a place for all kinds of creativity, whether you’re drawing, painting, repairing, building, crafting, or simply catching up with good company.

With the recent spell of exceptionally hot weather across the UK, we’ve all had to slow the pace a little and remember to look after ourselves. Temperatures have been soaring this week, so if you’re out and about, remember to drink plenty of water, take regular breaks in the shade where you can and avoid overdoing it during the hottest part of the day.

Men in Sheds has always been about much more than tools and timber. It’s about friendship, sharing skills, learning something new and having somewhere to belong. Whether you’re an experienced maker, enjoy arts and crafts, or simply fancy a chat over a brew, there’s always a warm welcome waiting.

Every session brings laughter, conversation, new ideas, and the chance to make something worthwhile—whether that’s a piece of artwork, a handmade project, a new skill or simply a lasting friendship.

Some members busy working on projects, others sharing ideas, solving problems, and a few putting the world to rights over a well-earned brew.

This week has been another great reminder that Men in Sheds is about much more than woodworking and tools. It’s about friendship, support, learning new skills, and having a place where everyone is welcome.

Whether you’re an experienced craftsman, handy with DIY, or have never picked up a tool before, there’s always someone willing to lend a hand, share their knowledge, or simply have a chat.

Every session brings a mixture of creativity, teamwork, laughter, and plenty of tea and coffee. The projects are important, but it’s the conversations and friendships built along the way that really make the Shed special.

When we say the kettle is always on at the Shed, we don’t usually mean this! 😂☕

One of our members was caught enjoying a “fresh brew” straight from the workshop this week, complete with a generous helping of wood shavings!

Jokes aside, this photo perfectly sums up what Steelers Healers Men in Sheds is all about – friendship, laughter, learning new skills and enjoying good company while getting stuck into practical projects.

Whether we’re woodworking, repairing items, restoring old treasures, helping with community projects or just putting the world to rights over a cuppa, there’s always something happening at the Shed.

What We’ve Been Up To at the Shed This Week…

It’s been another busy and enjoyable week at the shed, and with our new opening hours now in place, even more people have the opportunity to come along, get involved, and enjoy everything the shed has to offer.

The workshop has been full of activity this week, with plenty of projects on the go and members enjoying the chance to get together, learn new skills, and have a good catch-up.

We were delighted to host the Spoon Carving Club for their monthly session, with members making full use of the workshop as they practised traditional green woodworking and spoon carving techniques. It was fantastic to see everyone sharing knowledge, helping one another, and creating something unique from a simple piece of wood.

The extra opening times are already helping us welcome more people through the door, giving members greater flexibility to attend and enjoy the social side of the shed as well as the practical activities on offer.

This is exactly what the shed is all about – bringing people together, learning new skills, supporting wellbeing, and enjoying good company in a welcoming environment.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make it another successful week at the shed, and also to Voyage Arts and Crafts for their wonderful spoon carving session. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Men In Sheds – New Opening Hours Start This Week! ☕

Fancy getting out of the house for a few hours, meeting new people, learning new skills, or just enjoying a chat and a brew in good company?

Men In Sheds is a friendly, relaxed place where you can spend time with others, work on projects if you want to, share ideas and skills, or simply come along for the social side. There’s no pressure and no need to have any woodworking experience — just come as you are.

To make it easier for more people to join us, we’re pleased to announce our new opening hours:

Good news — starting next week beginning of June we’re increasing our opening days and changing our operating hours to give more people the chance to come along on different days and times.

Looking for somewhere to get out of the house, keep busy, and meet a good bunch of people?

Why not come along to our Men in Sheds group — a friendly and welcoming place where men can socialise, make new friends, share skills, enjoy a brew together, and simply have a good chat in good company.

Our new opening hours will be:

* Tuesday: 15:30 – 20:00
* Wednesday: 10:00 – 15:00
* Thursday: 10:30 – 14:00

We hope these extra sessions and new times will make it easier for you to take that first step, come down, have a chat, enjoy a brew, get involved, and feel part of the group.

You know those little jobs you start thinking, “This’ll only take five minutes”?
Before you know it, it’s three mornings later, the kettle’s been boiled half a dozen times, and there’s three blokes all stood around scratching their heads trying to work out where the missing screw went.

That’s what makes Men in Sheds special.

One lad might be turning bowls on the lathe, another building bird boxes, someone else welding, repairing furniture, or tinkering away on a project they’ve been meaning to finish for years. But truthfully, it’s not really about the projects, fixing things, the metalwork, or the woodwork.

It’s about the laughs, the conversations, the sense of purpose, and knowing there’s always someone there to have a brew with.

For some, it’s a place to learn new skills. For others, it’s simply somewhere to get out of the house and not feel alone. And somehow, whatever’s going on in life feels a little lighter when you’re stood shoulder to shoulder with a good bunch of people.
