Hours: 42hrs/week, 6 days/week.
Townshend Farms Ltd runs a 3,000 acre arable farming business alongside an independent modern broiler unit rearing birds for Jack Brand Ltd.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for progression in the Poultry Industry, at a modern and growing business.
The role available for the right candidate will likely evolve to broiler farm manager over time with current plans for the business to expand.
Role: Assist and support the Farm Manager with the day-to-day management of the broiler farm, ensuring that the stock produced is of the highest standards and meets the required specification in terms of welfare, weight, quality, and cost efficiency.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
⢠Manage the farm to ensure that bird welfare is never compromised.
⢠Manage and monitor ventilation, heating, feed, water, litter, and lighting within the agreed standards, ensuring the highest quality conditions are provided for the birds.
⢠Communicate with the Farm Manager ensuring that information is provided promptly and accurately.
⢠Manage and control Contractors on site ensuring that work is carried out to the required specification and quality.
⢠Ensure that Site is maintained in clean, tidy, and presentable manner.
⢠Ensure that all Codes of Practice are adhered to at all times.
⢠Flexible approach will be necessary as this role will necessitate working at weekends, Early starts will almost always be covered by the farm manager.
⢠Attend training courses which are determined as appropriate by the Company.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
⢠Initiative and influencing skills with a critically evaluating and questioning approach.
⢠Sound stock management background
⢠Ability to work as part of a Team as well as on own initiative.
⢠â Some work will involve mucking out sheds, burning floors, setting up etc.
⢠â Optional extra work available on the arable unit for the right candidate.
