Thank you to all of my clients that have taken the time to leave a review for the work I have carried out for them, it’s very much appreciated!

This job used a Classic 100 design with a 2 line border. It also incorporated a mat well with the border surrounding this.

Thank you to all of my clients that have taken the time to leave a review for the work I have carried out for them, it’s very much appreciated!

This job was an Octagon 150 dot design which worked perfectly in this Hallway! I love this photo with the stained glass door, such a beautiful property!

Sticking with the outside theme, let’s revisit this beautiful red and black combination from last year. I would say red and black is my favourite combination for outside paths.

My clients wanted their front garden transformed from bland concrete and minimal planting to this stunning new path, a small stone section for bins and an area for new planting.
All the old concrete was removed and new reinforced concrete was laid and edged with reclaimed path edging from
The new path is a classic 100 design with 2 lines supplied by

Continuing the outside theme, here is another stunning entrance from a couple of years ago. As the weather is getting warmer now is a great time to get in touch if you’re thinking about a Victorian path.
Full bullnosed yorkstones supplied by and tiles supplied by

The old path was sinking and breaking up due to the poor foundations so it was all removed and replaced with a new reinforced concrete slab. The slab was stepped so the new yorkstones could be fitted around the sides and installed at the same finished height of the tiles. This took some working out but ended up a perfect finish. Quite a transformation 😍☀️

☀️It’s that time for outside Victorian paths.☀️Next week the weather is warming up so get in touch today and make your dream a reality!
This path I did a couple of years ago in the Classic design with a 3 line border supplied by
The concreting had already been laid prior to my arrival which was organised by my client. Unfortunately it all had to be ripped up as it was only 25mm thick, no reinforcement and not enough hardcore to support the concrete.
Type 1 hardcore was laid and 100mm steel reinforced concrete was laid. Approximately 8 weeks later the tiles were fixed and this was then the best looking path in the street! (Clients words)

From one curve to another! My client had the option of the border running into the stairs (which is the traditional option) or to run around the stairs. They chose to run around the stairs as they wanted the curved feature in the tiles. Although it would’ve made my life so much easier choosing the option running into the stairs, I was looking forward to the challenge of the curved feature. This took lots of planning, measuring and more measuring but I’m sure you’ll agree that the end result looks stunning!

My client wrote a google review which I’ve copied below :
Ross was incredibly patient and helped turn our dreams into reality on our renovation project. He helped design our bespoke hallway using mosaic tiles and was incredibly professional and paid attention to detail from start to end to ensure we had the most breathtaking entrance. His eye for detail is what makes him stand out from the rest. Ross really took time to make sure the preparation of the floor was 100% before laying the tiles and for this I am so grateful as it showed he cared about us getting the best for years to come. Without his amazing craftsmanship we wouldn’t be in the home of our dreams. His work speaks for itself. I throughly recommend him.

Creating a curve in a Victorian tiled floor is very difficult and time consuming but adds so much more character than a square design around a curve. Original Victorian floors would normally have square designs as it was easier and not having the tools to produce curves like we have nowadays.
This post shows the process in creating the curve and you can appreciate how complex this looks. I like to call it ‘A work of art’ and I enjoy such a challenge!

Let’s talk preparation! A very important part of any work is preparation, from solid concrete bases outside to stable suspended timber floors inside. This is the part of the work that is not seen, not very glamorous but just as important as the beautiful Victorian tiles sitting on top!
I’ve numbered the photos so I can explain the process for anyone that is interested:

1. Laying a decoupling mat to protect the tiles from the lateral movement of the heated floor below.
2. Encapsulating the heating wires in concrete leveller prior to fixing the decoupling mat.
3. Installing insulation boards so the heat is directed up to the tiles and not downwards into the screed and installing the heating on top of the insulation boards
4. Rotten timber joists found just inside the door and this was caused by the door sill tipping inwards and allowing the rain to run inside over time.
5. New joist support installed and temporary prop before fixing a new supporting timber post.
6. New timber post installed supporting the floor at the front of the Hallway.
7. New joists installed to replace the rotten joist in photo number 4.
8. Cement boards fixed to floorboards to strengthen the floor and to help minimise the bounce in the floor.
9. A decoupling membrane installed to help minimise any potential lateral movement in the floor.
10. This compete hallway was lowered so the tiles would finish flush with the flooring in the adjoining rooms. It also had rotten joists at the front door which were taken out and replaced.
11. Same as number 10.
12. Wood treatment where necessary on old joists.
13. Type 1 hardcore, steel mesh and started concrete pour.
14. Joining the 2 concrete pads together with the steel bars.
15. Concrete poured and now waiting a minimum of 6 weeks before tiles can be installed.
16. The concrete had to be re-done on the job as the previous trade’s person had poured it without steel and only 25mm. It was removed, type 1 hardcore laid, steel reinforcement bars installed and 100mm concrete being poured.
17. Role tip edging installed after concrete pour.
18. Another concrete pour fully prepared.
19. Concrete tamped.
20. Tamping the concrete on another path.
