Here at hcl general building we have been very busy the last few weeks , completing work all over Gloucestershire .

- installing a new concrete pad for a cycle to school scheme, for the park primary school . Children now have a firm solid base to park there bikes and scooters when the bike racks are installed .

- installing new bespoke gates for another customer in cam , creating security and a more aesthetically pleasing look , using a brown timber to match adjacent brown garage doors .

- and installing a new concrete platform , steps easy clamp hand rail , and new pergola installation transforming and uplifting the visual and usability of the garden it is situated in .

- re levelling a pennant stone patio in frampton cotterall with a new installation of a pot gully joined to a adjacent manhole using 110 mm pvc pipe , to carry away any standing water as this was flooding beforehand .

My name is Hobie! I’m a self-employed general builder and hard landscaper with many years of experience in the construction industry.

Over the years, I’ve been proud to work on a wide range of projects, including Clifton Suspension Bridge and South Gloucestershire Council schools — building a strong reputation for reliability and quality workmanship.

I specialise in brickwork and blockwork, patios, stone walling and dry stone walling, fencing, tarmac driveways, concrete bases, and retaining walls.

Growing up in the countryside gave me a real passion for working outdoors, which naturally led me into this trade — and it’s something I still take great pride in every day.

We’ve created a brand new, direct pathway leading straight to the house, replacing the old routes which have now been removed and re-seeded with fresh grass for a clean, natural finish.

A solid new foundation has also been laid for a 31m garden wall, which will be built using beautiful Forest Mint stone. The wall is carefully positioned alongside the final edging of the path, supported with durable metal edging for a crisp, long-lasting finish.

The result is a practical, straight-to-the-door access route that’s not only functional, but also enhances the overall look of the garden with a clean and aesthetically pleasing design.

Firstly, apologies for being a bit quiet on here lately! we’ve been extremely busy on the tools, which is always a good sign! Thanks to everyone for your continued support !

We’ve recently completed a fantastic project at St Mary’s School, working on a historic wall connected to Thornbury Castle. The wall has been carefully repointed using heritage lime, helping to preserve its character while making it safe and secure for years to come.

We also laid a brand-new tarmac surface, creating a safer and more enjoyable space for the children to use.
