At Knocknagael Green Hub, the edges are just as important as the allotments themselves 🌿

A carefully curated native hedgerow frames the growing spaces - designed not just to define boundaries, but to actively support the ecosystem. Species have been selected for their resilience to the local climate, while providing vital food sources and habitats for wildlife and pollinators.

From the delicate spring blossom of crab apple (Malus sylvestris) and bird cherry (Prunus avium), to the seasonal colour and fruits of dog rose (Rosa canina), every element plays a role. Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus) and dogwood (Cornus sanguinea) bring year-round interest, ensuring the landscape continues to evolve through the seasons.

A productive landscape, designed to give back 🌱

What makes a great place? For us, it starts with people.

At Iglu Studio, every project begins with understanding how spaces are used, valued and experienced, because great design isn’t just about how a place looks, but how it works.

From schools to public spaces, we create environments that bring communities together and stand the test of time.

🏡 Scalloway Local Place Plan
Shaped by the community, for the community

Our work on the Scalloway Local Place Plan centred on meaningful engagement - working closely with local people to shape a shared vision for the future.

Through workshops, events and collaboration, community priorities were translated into a clear spatial vision and action plan.

Because the best places aren’t imposed, they’re created together.

A vision for the future, rooted in the past 🌿

Our work on the Bridlington Feasibility Study explores how thoughtful design can revitalise spaces while staying true to their identity.

This green space proposal, and the wider study, reflects a commitment to preserving the unique character of Bridlington Old Town, while carefully adapting it for modern use. By enhancing connectivity and creating welcoming, flexible spaces, the vision supports a more vibrant, inclusive community.

At its heart, the ambition is simple: to ensure Bridlington Old Town remains a place where history, culture and innovation come together - a destination that works for today, while being ready for the future.

Because great places don’t stand still; they evolve, thoughtfully.

🌍 World Creativity & Innovation Day – April 21

At Iglu Studio, creativity isn’t just part of the process - it is the process.

From reimagining outdoor spaces to designing landscapes that respond to how people live, move and connect, innovation sits at the heart of everything we do. Every project is an opportunity to think differently, challenge convention, and create something meaningful.

Today is a celebration of ideas, big and small, that shape better places for people and the planet.

Here’s to designing with purpose, pushing boundaries, and creating spaces that inspire. 🌱✨

🌿 Lairdsland Primary School

Creating inspiring spaces for learning.

At Lairdsland Primary School, our landscape design plays a key role in shaping how pupils experience their environment every day.

Set alongside the Forth & Clyde Canal, the design responds directly to its unique setting, creating a bright, open and flexible space that supports modern learning styles and encourages connection with the outdoors.

From outdoor learning areas to thoughtfully designed surroundings, this project demonstrates how landscape can enhance both education and community.

💧 Bathgate Water Restoration

Restoring nature, reconnecting communities

The Bathgate Water Restoration Project focuses on transforming a once-industrial landscape into a thriving, accessible green-blue corridor.

By improving water quality, enhancing biodiversity and creating better walking and cycling routes, the project aims to deliver a space that works for both people and wildlife.

It’s a powerful example of how landscape-led design can bring long-term environmental and social value.
