We LOVE getting customer updates 😍

The stonework has now been finished around our recent Willaston garden room and what a difference it's made! 🙌

It's lovely seeing the whole thing starting to settle into the garden and, even better, we've been told there's new furniture arriving next week… so obviously we're hoping for another update. 👀😂

Built to give the best of both worlds — completely open it up on a sunny day, or close the bi-fold and louvre doors and still have a proper usable garden space when the British weather inevitably does its thing.

Absolutely made up with how this one has come together. ❤️

🚪 A door doesn’t have to be boring…

A little look back at some of the bespoke internal doors we’ve made over the years.

From traditional barn-style sliders to live-edge timber and completely one-off designs — these are all handmade, and definitely not something you’ll find sitting on a shelf in B&Q. 😂

If you’ve got an awkward doorway, an idea you can’t find anywhere else, or you simply fancy something a bit different, give us a shout.

Turns out we don’t just build for humans… 🐶🐐🦔😂

A little throwback to some of the more unusual customers Dan’s Good Wood Shop has catered for over the years!

From raised dog beds and goat loungers… to bespoke hedgehog houses. 🔨

Apparently if it’s got four legs — or considerably more spikes — Dan will build for it. 😂

All handmade, all bespoke, and definitely some of our favourite little projects.

Behind the scenes from our latest build. 🔨👀

We’ve shown you the finished result… but here’s some of the people behind it.

Dan — the main man, obviously 😂
Stuart — good mate and always ready to get stuck in.
Michael — family friend, budding young naval man and learning a few tricks of the trade along the way.
And me, Laura — wife, occasional labourer and general guest appearance. 😂

We might be a small family business, but there’s usually a little team of family and friends behind the scenes helping us get these builds over the line. ❤️

Well… THAT’S A WRAP. 👀🔥

If you’ve been following us this week, you’ve watched this one come together pretty much from the ground up — and we mean that literally. Swipe right to the very end to see what we started with. 😂

Groundwork, Indian stone, a monster flitch plate, roof on, timber cladding and what felt like approximately 6,000 individual slats later… here she is.

Dan got the final bits finished today despite it absolutely p*ssing down all day. 🌧️

And those bi-fold and louvre doors? We think they’ve completely made it. Make sure you watch the video to see them in action. 👀

The customer is taking it from here and tackling the stonework around the outside, so we’ll be back for another look once the whole area is finished — and they’ve promised us celebratory drinks. 🍸😂

The doors are in — and what a difference they’ve made.

The larger bifold section arrived ready assembled… the smaller louvred doors, however, arrived completely flat packed. Every. Single. Slat. Individually. 😂 Safe to say Dan was delighted!

You might also spot one slat missing — unfortunately there’s a manufacturer fault with one of the customer-supplied doors, but thankfully the customer is on the case 👌🏽

We’d rather show you the job as it actually happens than hide the little hiccups along the way.

It is starting to take shape ❤️

Things are getting interesting in Willaston… 👀🪵

More cladding going on today and this build is really starting to show what it’s going to become.

But we’re definitely not showing you everything yet. 😏

That last photo might give you a huge clue though…

Stuart’s thumbs-up pose is catching on… 👍😂

Another BIG day on our bespoke garden room/pergola build 🪵

The main structure is up, the roof is taking shape and our custom-made flitch beam is now in place — steel sandwiched between structural timbers to give us the strength we needed across that huge front opening, without sticking a post in the middle. 💪

Definitely not an off-the-shelf build this one!

Next stage incoming… 👀

Saturday = prep day complete 🙌🪵

Dan and I have spent today getting everything ready for the next stage of our bespoke garden room/pergola build — log lap prepped, fascia boards sorted, roof materials ready and the van is officially packed to the rafters 😂

Tomorrow, tools are DOWN. It’s a rare me, Dan & the boys family day ❤️🐾

Although Sundays aren’t completely work-free… they’re also our catch-up-on-quotes day 🙈 So if you’re waiting to hear back from us, we’ll be working our way through them tomorrow too.
