I think this is the biggest mortise and tenon joint that I’ve ever done. Using 200x200mm timbers to create a double children’s swing and part time adult hammock. The single supporting post concreted one metre into the ground.

Biggest fence painting job ever today just off J30 of the M5. Started wondering that something might be going on given the number of fire engines flying by and strong smell of an electrical/chemical fire. Later found out that it was yet another lorry fire on the M5 which explained the heavy slow moving traffic.

This Garden Room was looking rather tired and liable to quickly deteriorate with the lack of roof felt. But with some repairs, new roof felt and a lovely coat of paint it becomes a lovely garden feature. It’s always so satisfying to see such a transformation and working in a lovely garden was a bonus, 😁.

A break-in!! But no criminals involved. Just a student who locked themselves out of their room. Substantial damage but with a bit of care everything repaired and the integrity of the old architrave was maintained.

A recent repair to a sash window. It was generally in good condition given that it was probably original but had a substantial area of rot in one corner. A new piece of wood cut in to match the existing profile and secured with glue and dowels. Later re-glazed and painted.

Even the best decking eventually succumbs to age and when it’s the steps that rot it can be both a nuisance and a danger. Here’s a couple of jobs that I’ve recently completed.

A cold start to the week, but dry and sunny. So quite pleasant weather for laying this simple patio to give my client a nice sized space to enjoy a cocktail or coffee with friends on a sunny afternoon. And for me I was kept supplied with tea and cake 😁

I put quite a few flat packs together, beds, wardrobes, drawer units etc etc. But putting together a boxing ring was quite different and fun. Working with some of the lovely members of Exeter University Boxing Club was a joy.
