Queen street, Newton Abbot, Devon It''s not often we work on a privately owned church. This United Reform Church closed in 1984 and was converted to commercial offices. The tower lead is beyond repair and needs replacing. We'll also be working on the tower cast iron rainwater goods which keep blocking and causing further leaks . The scaffolding will be going up in September so we can get the tower dry for the upcoming winter.

The lychgate school room, St Michael's, Ilsington Devon. The leadwork to the bay roofs is taking shape. Thanks to South West Roofing for fitting this project into a busy summer. It was hot up there.

St Michaels, Ilsington, Devon. We're restoring and conserving the old school room which sits over the West entrance. Structural repairs and new lathe and plastering inside and out. The timber work in the bay windows is past repairing and will need to be replaced.

Following on from our last post. We made it up the inside of the tower and out to the base of the spire. We did our survey and enjoyed the views. The rain actually helped in diagnosing some of the water ingress issues. Newton Abbott, Devon.

This spire and tower has a bad leak. We're about halfway up the inside. I'm not convinced by the platform above we need to access so we can get to an exterior hatch. The ladder isn't ours either. The risk assessments are going to be interesting.

Sacred Heart, Exeter. The paint removal is done and the doors eased so they operate smoothly. They now look as they were originally intended to.

Sacred Heart, Exeter. Paint removal and preparation of the entrance door continues. Looking so much better.

Sacred Heart, Exeter, Devon. The doors were painted some years ago. No one knows why. They look stark and incongruous against the rest of the interior. We're stripping the layers of paint off and we'll then refinish them, to enhance the natural wood.

St Mary with St Andrew, Rockbeare Devon. We've been carrying out some structural underpinning and new drainage works. It's always complicated digging out a new soak away in a graveyard. We have archaeological support as it is inevitable we will uncover something..

St Mary and St Boniface, Plymouth, Devon. Now the scaffolding is up and we can inspect closely, we can see there is another slate louvre that will need replacing. These louvres are large....and heavy. The old repair has somehow held. Not sure how they did it as it's 20+ metres up. Probably rope access.
