We took this bathroom floor right back to the bare joists, then packed and shimmed them to bring everything true. Once the base was sound, we laid and screwed down a new plywood subfloor, fixing at close, regular centres for a solid, creak-free finish. The whole floor was then checked across its full length with a long spirit level to confirm it was dead level — the perfect foundation for tiling or LVTs
