So, the Easter holidays are approaching!! Mums and dads need some help!!
Shake off the winter and get outdoors - gardening is a creative, educational activity and your child will love nurturing their own plants, flowers and veg.
Start on a small scale - don't be too ambitious and embark on a massive gardening project with your children. Better to keep it small and start with maybe potatoes in a bucket or sunflowers - these are quite enough for young children. Or even try cress egg heads with young children as it grows very fast and children can eat in salads and egg sandwiches after only a few days.
And....enjoy!!

The sun is shining, but frosts can still be a hazard, so keep vulnerable plants protected at night if frost is forecast. March winds are also notorious for their ferocity so check exposed plants are well supported.

Now is the time for a thorough spring clean; w**d and dig over your borders incorporating as much organic matter as you can - those chilly winds will really help to dry out the soil. Mulch bare soil once you have done the work and remove moss and w**ds from paths, terraces and driveways. They may be boring tasks but if you don’t get on top of the garden now (especially the w**ds!) it will be a nightmare for the rest of the season.
