Spent the day with the wise and wonderful
Lynne working in her garden which can keep you busy every week!
We targeted her large border today which I have only part done before so plenty to do!
We dug up a rhododendron and a Philidelphus Lynne wanted remove and also but a 2ft high stump and levelled to ground.
Bindw**d has always been the issue for Lynne! A lot of that is in her large border which has travelled from the back in the woods all the way up the garden and covering the border and plants.
Most was matted along the back of the border……being well established and a junction of roots this needed a good dig up. I tried to remove as much root as possible…..many roots coming from the centre of plants also typically!!!!!! lol but it’s just about keeping on top of it and I will find more and more roots the more I work on this border.
We also had a lot of petty spurge and sorrel.
We didn’t get all the border done today as we had a bit of patio hoovering cleaning up also but we had a good go and was very thorougher
Looks a lot nicer…..we will be shuffling plants around to better locations and adding to the border in the next few weeks

I have some before pics but not that many actually apologies! Mostly areas of the rhododendron and the Philadelphus areas and also some afters!
Looking far less stressful to look at now Lynne! 😊

As always thanks to Lynne for her continued custom but most importantly her company……….and even more importantly…..her Yorkshire tea! 😉 😂

A day with Nigel, Sue, Nathalie, Sarah and Sam’s communal garden and also with Emmet and Natalie to have a good clean up too.

Mostly keeping on top of the area behind the patio and shed and making sure keep it clear of shoots coming up from old tree roots and taking them roots at as best as possible and the green alkanet which hasn’t really cropped up a lot since removing them all last year which is good.
Eventually they will move the patio right back in this area and shed and give a much bigger lawn space which will be the the task after.
I Cut back/deadheaded and also watered what was needed.
Emmet and Natalie we cleaned up the gardens worked around patios and cleaned up borders.
I aired the forsythia at the front of deadwood….it really needed a good prune back but because of the small window you get after flowering has finished and out the window when first started we will leave that to prune next year which will hopefully thicken it up and look less leggy.
Hydrangea needs a good water….when we have had dry hot days like we have this needs watering every 2 days with a slow deep water especially with sandy soil which water will filter through fast.

Both gardens looking really nice even with the heat we have had. 😊

Working at the lovely Raine’s garden today! We got hedge trimming! She wanted her large Cupressus, yew and red tip trimmed and tidied up!
I’ve also got to say that she has done a great job at keeping everything watered and cared for….its very clear to see!! A lot of plants/shrubs would have been suffering if not so she’s done an amazing job!

Anyway 6hrs later and looking sharp! 💪 😂……..it really does look very nice and Raine was delighted which is always my main aim 😊

I will see her again in around a month for some more trimming!

Rain!!!! We had rain!!!! 🤲 🌧️

Will hopefully get more soon!

Working in the lovely Steve & Alex’s gardens today.
A general tidy up and some planting and mulching to bring some late colour to the borders 😊
Most things planted were perennials….it will give the borders more colour for around 40-60 days…..I will just monitor the hours of sunlight they are getting but this shouldn’t be a problem.

Plants will need to be kept on top of with watering most 2-3 times a week weather depending.

I shall come back in 2 weeks for our next visit!

Visiting Steve & June today to keep up with the maintenance
Cleared weds/brambles that were w**d killed last visit on a narrow border and behind their shed…..another round of bindw**d removal…..keeping the areas we cleared first visit of w**d and grass including the top tier area where we will look at possibly converting budget depending maybe sheet the area and stone with potted plant in the middle either side of greenhouse is a cheaper option or we can go all out and plant the whole area….one to think about for Steve and June.

They had a big gap in the privet hedging right in front of their side door so they wanted this covered……..I put some faux foliage I had in the gap for now free of charge to give them privacy and we may see hedging and ivy growing in and around it to make it more visual and hide a little, we shall see but again another area to look at if budget lets us.
The border in front of that we will look to plant possibly but for now it’s just a case of keeping on top of it all.
Edged along their footpath which grass had grown over slabs to give them maximum wheelchair access too.
We are having a second flush of flowers coming on the lavenders I deadheaded so that’s good….usually smaller flowers but maximising colour so that will be nice.
The Lilac and baby breath spirea have suffered with the drought a bit so we have them a good deep water.
Cleared and watered the geranium border also.

Another day and another happy customer! Just 3 visits but we have come a long way to what is was when first came so really happy.

I felt a drop today! But literally one drop 😂

I am with the lovely Ted & Marilyn and the wonderful Shirley maintaining their gardens!

A bit of a longer wait due to a holiday so a bit more to do!

Deadheading all roses as always around 7 different specie and snipping back any unhealthy leaves/stems, removed the spent flowers on Shirley’s rose of Sharon’s to save the mess due and cleared up the spent flowers from ground! Quite a lot! 🌺
In general a lot of snipping today…border clearing which was quite messy.
Ted & Marilyn’s golden celebration rose doing fantastic….really healthy since transplanting into the planter…..all the roses doing very well considering the heat.
The rhododendron like a lot I’ve seen is struggling………this in the dry heat we have had needs a deep water every 2-4 days in the evening or morning. The old fashioned weigela although full has taken a little bit of little heat stress but also lacking iron which it gets deprived of in a lot of gardens in the uk so we will look at helping that once the heat starts to drop and when we get some rain!!!! 🌧️…..it is the same for one of Shirley’s smaller hydrangea which has taken a hit that needs to be deep watered regularly in this heat we have had.
Ted & Marilyn’s Lady’s mantle seem to be loving the new back border……a couple of doctoring jobs but overall all very nice….like every garden rain is needed!!!!! 60 days since it has….is that right?!Madness!

Making up for the hot Thursday off with visits to the marvellous Lynne on Saturday and our monthly visit to the HA close on Sunday.

We cleared one of Lynne’s borders and moved her gaillardia away from the viburnum and also planted a newly sprouted Veronica

Cleared brambles around the garage and cut back a few things including the large pittosporum that we cut back so Veronica’s get sunlight below and to shape…….cleaned up the patio also.

Sunday I went to the lovely HA close to have a little clean up of the communal areas.
Wasn’t too much w**ding to do in the borders with the mulch doing its job in most of the borders but some doctoring was needed……rhododendrons look to of been suffering in this heat, it’s been tough for rhododendrons in general this summer….watering definitely needed and important to keep on top of it during extreme heats.
We cleaned all around the bloc paving w**ded…..and went through all borders.
Most things are fine just needs watering really.

Getting warmer!!!! 🔥

I have a visit to Steve and Alex’s lovely gardens today……..I was away for our last scheduled slot so I fit them in this week…..they were also away when I was so we missed a week of watering, most of the borders are fine…..only really the hydrangea at the front and the rhododendron that have been hit with heat stress…..I gave them a deep water and snipped a bit of the rhododendron and I snipped the spent flowers off hydrangea to a pair of green leaves….this should give it less work to do during the heat……phlox was treated a tad also.
The grass…..well with 50 days of no rain it’s going to happen especially with hose pipe bans but a high percentage was moss which we are looking to scarify and re seed in fall anyway so just a patience game with the lawn.

Everything else looked lovely….roses doing very well, and all the shrubs also……the magnolia has been strong this year! It’s Done very well.
Hardy Fuchsia’s also going well just a little water tonight I think ready for the heat apocalypse tomorrow! 😂
Next visit will be mulching more borders and some planting to fill the borders up a little more!

It will be a Hot day tomorrow so anything you hold dear in the borders give it shade if necessary and keep up on watering! An Unsettled week is due so hopefully some welcome rain! 🌧️

A nice day to ease into melt down heat! 😂

I am at the lovely Helen’s today and we had some trimming and cutting back to do!

A trim of the privets at the front for them……we then moved to the back garden to cut back some cherry laurel that was crowding the pond area and also there yellow flowered rose of Sharon which I only trimmed very lightly….ideally you will cut this back in early spring……it’s a shame while it was flowering but it was blocking all access around the back of the pond so they wanted room around there.
We also cut back some Japanese laurel that was looking under the weather I think lack of sun or heat stress.

All in all a job well done! 😊

Another dry hot day!!! ☀️

But we must crack on and today I was with Michai and Angie in their gardens for a 3hr slot!

Deadheading a lot inc lavender and shaped, they wanted to keep the lavender cuttings so placed them in some kind of size order anyway 😂…..deadheaded roses, carnations and lemon balm we cut back to new green growth a little too.
Removed membrane from one border by the jasmine which is taking the tension wiring well.
They can either lay more mulch down and plant if they wish or we can look to removing plants there in early autumn and relaying fresh membrane down and mulch.
Removed a lot of Japanese pachysandra root/shoots I believe that are coming in from next door under the fence.
Weeded all shingle area, lawns and driveway, patio and treated some potted plants that suffered when they were away inc cherry tree.

Overall in much better state! 😊

I will see them again on around a months time! Let’s hope for some rain soon!
