I’m building a bridge!

Things are progressing well, with the main structure complete, first ramp fully installed, DPM protecting the timber and the spoil backfilled. I’m ready to start installing the planks. I’m so excited to see this turn into a fully functional bridge..

Joists are now fixed in place, and blocking installed to stop any warping or twisting. I can now install the ramps.

I’m building a bridge!!

Things are really changing on this project now. My posts are wrapped with tape from . The bridge frame is complete, awaiting the final joists. Both ramps are built and painted. Concreting is done, points secured! Now I can push the final stages of the framework and joists and turn this pile of wood into a bridge!!

Both ramps are now built, painted and ready to the installed. My next task will be concreting the posts, after that things will progress quickly.

I’m Building a Bridge!

When I watched this back I was gobsmacked at the amount of dust coming from just one cut. I’m guilty of cutting wood without a mask, safe to say that I will be wearing one from now on.

I thought I’d share this as a reminder of how important PPE is. Stay safe everyone

Using post tape to protect the timber posts from moisture, protecting them against rot. Maximising the lifespan of the timber and ensuring the bridge lasts as long as possible 🤘🏻

Building a bridge!

My holes are now dug. It’s time to cut and fix my posts to the bridge joists before securing in concrete.

I’ve added a healthy layer of bitumen paint to the top of posts to protect from sitting water and moisture.

I’ve used timber lock screws to fix the posts to the joists.

My trusty levels helping me make sure everything is level and plumb. I’ve had these levels years and they’re still bang on 👌

I’m going the extra mile at every step to ensure this bridge lasts as long as possible for my client. I take pride in my work and my ethos has always been belts and braces, build it right and build it once!
