That small black line of bitumen along the edge of the felt isn’t messy workmanship — it’s there for a reason.

When installing a high-performance torch-on felt roofing system, the membrane needs to be heated correctly so the bitumen melts and creates a full bond between the layers.

A small, consistent bitumen bleed at the laps is a visual indication that the membrane has been properly heated and bonded.

We understand that sometimes the repair may only be one slipped tile, one broken tile, or even one gutter clip, and people often ask why the charge is still £150.

The answer is simple – you’re not paying for the cost of the tile or the gutter clip. You’re paying for a professional roofing service.

Every job, no matter how small, still requires us to:

✅ Fuel and vehicle running costs
✅ Public liability insurance
✅ Specialist roofing tools and equipment
✅ Working safely at height
✅ A full inspection of the affected area to make sure there aren’t any further issues
✅ The experience and knowledge of a qualified roofing team

Although replacing a single tile may only take a few minutes, the time spent travelling, setting up safely, carrying out the repair correctly, and packing away means every repair has a cost.

• Booking & Deposit Policy

At East View Roofing Ltd, we take pride in providing reliable service and allocating dedicated time for every project we undertake.

Unfortunately, we have experienced a number of last-minute cancellations, which can leave scheduled time unavailable and our team without work at very short notice. Large roofing projects are not always able to be replaced at short notice, making this difficult for both the business and our employees.

For this reason, all roofing projects require a deposit to secure your booking and allocated start date. Once your deposit has been received, your dates will be reserved exclusively for your project.

This policy allows us to plan our workload efficiently, ensure our team remains in work, and continue providing the high standard of service our customers expect

• Roof Surveys for Property Purchases.

Each week, we receive between three and five enquiries from prospective buyers requesting roof inspections before purchasing a property.

Unlike a standard free quotation, these inspections involve a detailed assessment of the roof to identify any defects, estimate the cost of any necessary repairs or replacement works, and provide a written report that can often be used during the property buying process or when negotiating the purchase price.

For this reason, pre-purchase roof surveys are charged at £250.

The survey includes:

* A thorough roof inspection.
* Photographs of any defects or areas of concern.
* A written report outlining our findings.
* A detailed quotation for any recommended roofing works.

Should you go on to purchase the property and instruct East View Roofing Ltd to carry out the work, the full £250 survey fee will be deducted from your final invoice.

This allows us to dedicate the time needed to provide a professional and comprehensive survey while ensuring there is no additional cost if you choose us to complete the work.
