New Project | Blackfriars Lane 🏛️

We’re pleased to have started a new project on Blackfriars Lane, City of London, carrying out a full DOFF clean to the building elevations.

The property is a beautiful four-storey Grade II Listed period building, with retail space at ground floor and offices above, situated within the Ludgate Hill Conservation Area.

Our specialist team will be using the DOFF system to carefully clean the elevations, helping to remove built-up dirt and staining while respecting the character and historic fabric of the building.

CONCRETE TESTING IN THE CITY OF LONDON 👷‍♂️

Barwin has been commissioned by the City of London Corporation to carry out essential concrete testing on the Middlesex Street Estate.

Located next to the iconic Gherkin in the heart of the City, this estate holds significant historical value. Built between 1965 and 1970 on a site devastated by WWII bombing, it was one of the largest inner-city redevelopment projects undertaken by a public authority in post-war Britain. The estate features the 23-storey Petticoat Tower and low-rise buildings around Petticoat Square, all constructed using concrete and engineered brick. 🏛️

With approximately 10,000 m² of concrete to assess across the estate's 234 dwellings, this testing will be crucial for developing a technically robust specification for a long-lasting, durable repair system. The goal is to ensure this historic estate remains safe, sustainable, and updated for generations to come.

🚧 NEW PROJECT - THE HAREFIELD, UXBRIDGE 🔨

Barwin are delighted to have commenced façade rendering works at The Harefield, a well-known local landmark in Uxbridge with a rich history dating back to 1801.

Originally operating as The King's Head, the building has served the community for more than two centuries, evolving from a beerhouse and butcher's shop through several name changes before becoming The Harefield following its refurbishment in 2007. 🍻

Our specialist team will be carrying out façade rendering works to help preserve and enhance the appearance of this historic building, ensuring it continues to welcome customers for years to come.

🏛️ We're excited to be starting work on another remarkable piece of London's heritage.

Barwin have commenced structural repair works at The Albert in Victoria - a Grade II listed pub that has stood proudly since 1862.

Named after Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, this striking four-storey building is instantly recognisable for its yellow brickwork, red brick dressings and decorative stucco detailing. Many will also recognise it from its appearance in the hit TV series Killing Eve.

Working on historic buildings like The Albert is always a privilege. Our team will be carrying out essential structural repairs to help preserve the building's integrity while respecting the character and craftsmanship that have made it a local landmark for more than 160 years.

🏛️ Progress Update | South Audley Street, Mayfair 🔨

Barwin are pleased to share progress photos from our ongoing works at South Audley Street, forming part of a wider programme of repair works being carried out across Mayfair for our clients MCD Heritage.

These beautiful terracotta panels and sections of brickwork required intricate repair and preservation works to carefully restore the façade and bring the building back to life while maintaining its historic character.
