A modest refurb can go off the rails when the electrical scope is vague. You move walls, change layouts, add equipment, then suddenly discover the existing infrastructure can’t support it cleanly. You end up with a domino effect of late design changes, rushed decisions, and budget creep.

The fix is getting clarity early. You need to identify what’s staying and what’s moving, as well as what’s new and therefore needs accounting for in the power supply. That includes things you might not think of, like emergency lighting coverage, fire alarm interfaces and data requirements, not just how the space will be used day-to-day.

When the electrical plan is solid, everything else becomes easier to sequence. Other trades can work around it, and handover doesn’t feel like a scramble.

If you’re scoping a refurb this quarter, we can help you define the electrics before surprises define you.

You might not know it, but your building is constantly generating clues. Small spikes in consumption, odd patterns out of hours, equipment that runs longer than it should, and a baseline that creeps upwards without anyone changing anything obvious.

Smart monitoring turns those clues into decisions. It helps you spot waste, justify upgrades, and come prepared to meetings because you’re talking about real data, not hunches.

It’s also a great way to catch “silent failures”, like controls that have dropped out of automatic mode or equipment that’s compensating for something else being wrong.

If you want your energy bills to be less of a shock every month, measurement is the quickest route there.

Installing EV chargers is the easy part. Keeping them dependable is what users remember.

We see the same issues pop up: units that are technically “working” but temperamental, and users will frequently find their cars at seemingly random charge states. Soon, the chargers have become a source of complaints instead of a genuine asset.

A good EV charging setup is boring in the best way. Clear user experience, sensible placement, robust electrical design, and capacity planning that doesn’t gamble with the rest of the building.

If you’re planning workplace charging, or you’ve already got chargers that feel fragile, we can help make them behave like proper infrastructure rather than a constant experiment.

Outdoor power has a habit of starting as a great idea in the warmer months, but when you get around to it, summer has already come and gone.

In truth, outdoor power is something that can benefit you year-round. Of course, a hot tub and garden lighting spring to mind first, but they can also power a home office outbuilding, an EV charger, security equipment, or even just a few sockets to stop you running a lead through the kitchen when you’re mowing the lawn.

Correct IP-rated accessories, sensible cable routes, protection that actually suits outdoor use, and isolation points that are easy to reach; it keeps things safe and makes your setup feel like it belongs.

If you’ve got outdoor electrics on your list this year, we can help you design it properly so it lasts.

If your lights flicker when dimmed, when HVAC kicks in, or “just sometimes”, it’s worth getting the cause nailed down properly.

We’ve shared a practical guide to fix flickering issues, from dimmer compatibility to power supply problems, with clear signs of when to treat it as urgent.

If you are squinting by mid-afternoon or fighting glare on your screen, your home office lighting probably needs layering.

A good ceiling light sets the base, then desk lamps, wall lights or floor lamps add focused and ambient light where you need it. We have put together a practical guide to getting it right.

Labelling is not a nice-to-have. It’s the difference between a tidy half-hour isolation and a slow, stressful day of tracing circuits while everyone waits.

In buildings where needs are constantly changing, labels tend to drift. Boards get altered, tenants change, small works happen, and suddenly the schedule says one thing while reality says another. That’s when minor jobs balloon into bigger disruptions, and simple compliance tasks become awkward.

Good labelling does two things: It speeds up work for everyone who touches the system in the future, and it reduces risk because engineers and occupants aren’t forced into assumptions.

If you’ve inherited a building where the board schedule looks optimistic, we can survey and bring it back into line with how you’d expect the building to run.

An RCD that keeps tripping is more than a nuisance; it’s a safety device doing its job.

The real question is whether the cause is a single faulty appliance or an electrical system that has reached its limits.

In our blog, we look at how to tell the difference and when a consumer unit upgrade or rewire is the sensible next step.

Ever had equipment that “just doesn’t like” one part of the building? Displays flicker, chargers run hot, sockets buzz, and nobody can pin down a single obvious cause.

A lot of the time it isn’t the device, but the quality of the supply in that area: voltage dips, harmonics from modern loads, or a mix of equipment that was never meant to share a circuit. You can replace hardware again and again and still chase the symptom.

Power quality checks are one of those unglamorous things that save hours of headaches. They help you see what’s actually happening in the background, then fix the cause instead of masking it.

If you’ve got persistent “ghost faults”, it’s often worth measuring before you guess.

Some of the best domestic improvements aren’t flashy. They’re the ones you notice every day because things go from being annoying to being a genuine pleasure to use.

That could be a proper circuit for a home office setup that’s grown beyond one socket. It could be lighting that finally suits the room instead of fighting it. It could be outdoor power that’s safe, weatherproof, and sensibly placed so you’re not trailing leads through a door.

These jobs look simple from the outside, but the difference is in the detail: correct protection, neat routing, and a finish that feels intentional.

If you’ve got a space that’s never quite worked the way you want it to, we can help you fix it properly.
