🍂 Why Are Trees Already Losing Their Leaves? 🌳
You may have noticed leaves starting to fall already, even though we’re only at the end of August.
After such a long period of dry weather and very little rainfall, some trees can become stressed due to a lack of available moisture in the soil. As a natural survival response, trees may begin shedding some leaves earlier than usual to reduce water loss. 🍃
Now that rain has finally started to arrive, this should help replenish the soil and give plants and trees access to much-needed moisture. However, some leaves may continue to fall — the effects of prolonged dry weather can take time to reverse.
So if your garden looks a little more autumnal than usual, don’t panic! 🍂 It doesn’t necessarily mean your trees are dying. Different tree species respond differently to drought, and some will recover once conditions improve.
🌧️ A good soaking of rain is very welcome right now!
Keep an eye on your trees over the coming weeks, particularly newly planted or young trees, which are more vulnerable to dry conditions.
