🔑 If you've owned a Renault or Dacia, there's a good chance you'll recognise one of these... 👀

We've had a couple of customers recently who needed replacement key cards and had been told the same thing:

“You'll have to go to the dealer.”

Along with a price that made losing the key almost as painful as losing the car. 😬

Thankfully, that's not always the case.

We've been able to supply and program replacement cards for less than half the price customers had previously been quoted.

So if one of these looks familiar and you've only got one left... it might be worth getting a spare before that one disappears too. 🔑

What do you do when the internals of your VW Transport key go for a trip in a bin lorry? 🗑️🚛🔑

Unfortunately, this customer found out the hard way...

With nothing left to rescue, we supplied, cut and programmed a complete replacement key and got them back to having a working spare again.

Sometimes a key repair is possible.

A quick non-destructive entry job today to get the customer back into this beautiful car.

Fun fact: despite the badge on the bonnet, this Ferrari uses the same lock profile found on certain Fiats. 🇮🇹

So underneath all that Italian exotica, there's a little bit of Fiat hiding in there. 😂

A Dacia Jogger Smart Key to start the week 🔑

Although it wears a Dacia badge, underneath it uses the same key and immobiliser technology found across a number of modern Renaults, and these aren’t a straightforward programming job.

This one required direct access to the vehicle’s UCH using specialist equipment before the new smart key could be programmed to the car.

The customer had already been quoted by the main dealer, so was very happy to find there was another option. 👍

New smart key programmed at the customers home for less than half the price of the dealer.

Another Mercedes SLK safely back to having two keys.

Fun fact: these Mercedes keys contain an infrared transmitter, allowing them to communicate with the vehicle's Electronic Ignition Switch. It's a clever system that's quite different from the transponder systems used by many other manufacturers.

It's one of the reasons Mercedes key programming requires specialist equipment and procedures.

If you're down to your last key, it's always worth getting a spare before you need an all-keys-lost replacement.

Did you know that sometimes the most important key we programme... is the one we delete? 🔑

This customer had recently bought this VW Polo with just a single key.

We supplied and programmed a second remote key, but just as importantly, we erased any missing keys from the vehicle's memory.

That means if a previous owner, still has a key, it can no longer start the car.

This particular job was a little more involved too, requiring the key to be dismantled so the immobiliser data could be read using specialist adapters before the new key could be programmed.

A great reminder that a spare key isn't just about convenience, it's also a chance to make sure only your keys can start your car. 🔐

🔑 Fiat 500 - All Keys Lost? No Problem.

Another customer back on the road today after losing every key to their Fiat 500.

People are often surprised by what's actually involved in a job like this. It's not as simple as cutting a new key.

✅ We first gain access to the vehicle.
✅ We then decode the current locks on the vehicle to make new key blades
✅ We connect specialist diagnostic equipment to securely program the new keys into the vehicle's immobiliser.
✅ For security, any missing or lost keys can be erased from the system so they can no longer start the car.

This customer chose non-remote keys as a more cost effective option, but remote locking keys were available too.

If you've only got one working key, now is the time to get a spare made. It's always quicker, cheaper and less stressful than waiting until you've lost the last one.

🔑 Another Mercedes back on the road today.

We were called to this Mercedes C-Class with all keys lost.

No working key.
No spare.
No trip to the dealer.

Instead, we removed the electronic ignition switch (EIS), securely read the immobiliser data on the bench, generated two new keys, then refitted and tested everything.

✅ 2 brand new remote keys
✅ Vehicle running again
✅ Customer back on the road

It's jobs like these that show modern car keys are about far more than just cutting a blade. Behind the scenes there's specialist equipment, immobiliser programming and, in some cases, bench EEPROM work to get everything working correctly.

If you've only got one key left, now is the time to get a spare made. It's almost always quicker, cheaper and less stressful than waiting until you've lost the last one.
