Leven MC Development opened their season in dramatic fashion, sharing the points in a thrilling 4–4 draw with Cross Keys AFC. The game had everything; own goals, penalties, comebacks, late drama and plenty of talking points for the supporters.
First Half
4’ ⚽️ Goal 0–1 (OG)
A nightmare start for Leven as a Cross Keys throw-in was misjudged by a defender, who sliced a header past his own goalkeeper. Not only did it give Cross Keys the lead, but also earned the unfortunate defender a £2 fine in the dressing room.
15’ ⚽️ Goal 1–1
Sam Bateman launched a throw-in which was partially cleared. Will Hodgkin headed it back to Charlie Grazier, who struck a sweet half-volley from outside the box, arrowing it into the bottom right corner.
16’ ⚽️ Goal 1–2
The joy was short-lived as Cross Keys hit back immediately. Their winger turned Leven’s fullback inside out before cutting inside and finishing smartly into the corner.

Second Half

Lucas Johnson danced his way into the box, twisting and turning before being brought down. Up stepped Will Hodgkins, who converted the penalty with confidence to level the game.
76’ ⚽️ Goal 3–2
Just minutes later, Alfie Snow clipped a perfect ball over the top for Daz. Holding off his man, he rifled the ball past the keeper to swing the momentum in Leven’s favour.
78’ ⚽️ Goal 3–3
Cross Keys were gifted a way back when a deep cross wasn’t dealt with. The ball fell to the back post where their striker poked it in from an impossibly tight angle.
81’ ⚽️ Goal 4–3
Leven hit back again. A long ball forward found Daz, who flicked it over the centre-back. Bailey Middleton-Frankton pounced, taking a touch before driving his finish across goal into the bottom corner.
90+8’ ⚽️ Goal 4–4
Heartbreak at the death. Deep into stoppage time, Leven failed to deal with a hopeful long ball, allowing it to bounce. The Cross Keys striker nipped in and headed past the keeper to sn**ch a point for his side.
