This one will always be special to us.

Spencer Road, East Moseley. An early Victorian property bought as a project house and transformed into a modern dream home with a two storey extension, open plan living, luxury bathrooms and a brand new second floor bedroom created from what was previously just a loft space. Same plot. Completely unrecognisable.

Our architectural designer and structural engineer at HAC Designs handled every part of the design and engineering for this project, making sure the vision the clients had from day one was delivered properly on paper before a single brick was laid.

Before vs After. Spencer Road, East Moseley.

This early Victorian property had not been renovated for a very long time. The clients bought it as a project, knowing exactly what they wanted to achieve. They had the vision. They just needed the right team to design it properly.

At HAC Designs we handled the architectural drawings and structural engineering for the full transformation. We demolished the old conservatory and designed a two storey rear and side extension at the rear and side of the house. A symmetrical facade with dual balconies and apex windows completely changed how the property looks from the street. The ground floor opened up into a spacious kitchen and living area full of natural light, while the old loft space became a brand new bedroom complete with ensuite and bespoke built in wardrobe.

Good design is where every great home transformation starts.

Something most people don’t realise about sliding vs bifold doors 👇

Sliding doors look cleaner… but they only ever open about half of the total opening.

Bifolds have more frames, but they let you open almost the entire wall, which completely changes how the space feels when it’s open.

There’s no universal “best” only what works best for your space and priorities.

Go for sliding doors if you want:
- Clean, minimalist glass with uninterrupted views
- Simple everyday use and controlled ventilation
- Better energy performance long term
- A flush threshold and seamless indoor–outdoor feel

Choose bifolds if you want:
- The ability to open almost the entire wall
- A big entertaining space that flows outside
- A wide opening where the full reveal is worth it
