🌸 Garden makeover 🌸

I spent yesterday in Helensburgh completing Phase 1 of a lovely new client’s garden makeover - I've popped some before and after pictures below🥰🌼

They wanted a garden full of colour with a cottage theme. I spent time digging out a lot of pesky ground elder roots, and enriched the soil. Then I created a planting design focused on bringing colour and interest throughout the year, while also supporting pollinators and capturing a beautiful cottage garden feel.

The design features a carefully selected mix of shrubs and perennials chosen to thrive in the garden’s conditions. Repetition has been used throughout to create a sense of harmony and flow, alongside ground-covering plants to help suppress future ground elder growth 🌸

Phase 2 will see the addition of cottage spring & early summer perennials, lots of bulbs, and some winter bedding over the next couple of months. I can’t wait to watch this garden settle in, grow, and mature over the seasons 💓

Back to school day today and missing the big two already 💖💖 But I still have the wee one at home to entertain me 🤣

Had a busy weekend with some garden maintenance jobs and border prep for some garden design projects which I loved every minute of 😍

Taking it a little slower today and appreciating some of the late summer colour in the garden 🌼🌺

Did you know that Ragwort is a native wildflower important for pollinators, but as it's classified as an injurious w**d (due to its toxicity to grazing animals) its important to control it if it threatens livestock or spreads to agricultural pasture.

A sea of Hydrangea Annabelle 🌸🌸

I love this for late Summer and Autumn colour. And while it has very limited benefits for pollinators it provides shelter when left intact over the colder months for insects and other wildlife 🕷

It's not too late - why not brighten your garden with some late summer & autumn plants 😍

Im now taking orders for free delivery between Inveraray and Oban/Helensburgh/Alexandria🌸

Here are some ideas of lovely later colour:

🌸 Japanese Anemones – elegant late summer flowers that keep going well into autumn.
💜 Sedum (Hylotelephium 'Autumn Joy') – loved by bees and butterflies with beautiful pink to rusty-red flower heads.
💙 Asters (Michaelmas Daisies) – masses of daisy-like flowers that brighten autumn borders.
💛 Rudbeckia – cheerful golden blooms that flower for weeks.
❤️ Heuchera – colourful evergreen foliage that looks great all year.
💜 Hardy Geranium 'Rozanne' – one of the longest-flowering perennials around.

Whether you're after pollinator-friendly planting (they will thank you for adding pollen rich plants later in the season), a low-maintenance border, or colour that lasts into autumn, I'd love to help.

Just back from a blissful 2 weeks of complete switch off and relaxation with the family in the middle of nowhere with noone but deer and sheep for neighbours 🌸💜 🦌 (as relaxing as it can be with a toddler anyway 🤣)

I'm not great at taking photos when on holiday but did get a few of the beautiful scenery and plants of Perthshire 🌸🌼

Refusing to look too closely at the garden today as it's gone absolutely wild the last 2 weeks 🙈 That can be the rest of the weeks problem 🤣
