COULD EMERGENCY SERVICES ACCESS YOUR PROPERTY?
It’s something many homeowners may never have considered, but could an ambulance or fire engine safely reach your home in an emergency?
Our latest project took us to a beautiful private residential property overlooking Loch Ness, where we were tasked with widening approximately 200 metres of private access road to improve accessibility for emergency vehicles, particularly ambulances.
While new developments must meet relevant building standards for emergency vehicle access, many older properties have private roads and driveways that were constructed long before today’s requirements.
And in rural Highland locations, where properties are often accessed by long, narrow or winding private roads, this can present a real challenge.
🚜 Our work involved:
🔹 Widening approximately 200 metres of existing private road
🔹 Excavating and preparing the road edges
🔹 Creating a wider, more accessible route for emergency vehicles
🔹 Resurfacing the widened sections to provide a durable finish
🔹 Working carefully within the beautiful surrounding Highland landscape
The result is a safer, more practical access road that not only improves everyday accessibility but could make a crucial difference when emergency assistance is needed.
And what a spectacular location to work in, with those incredible views across Loch Ness!
At Caledon Contractors, we specialise in private roads, estate tracks, driveways and access improvements throughout the Highlands and Skye.
If your property has an older private access road, it’s worth considering whether it’s suitable for modern emergency vehicles.
Whether you need an existing road widened, resurfaced or a completely new access route constructed, our experienced team can help.
