We’re proud to announce that Network Construction Group has been awarded Subcontractor of the Month - Safety Award for April on the Applebee Wood School project for our valued client, Tilbury Douglas. 🏆

A huge congratulations to Paul Paintain and the wider NCG team for setting and maintaining exceptional safety standards across the project. This recognition reflects the culture, planning and commitment shown daily by everyone involved on site.

One area that has particularly stood out has been our segregated cutting zones, with three dedicated areas established across the project to ensure all cutting operations are carried out as safely as possible for both operatives and surrounding trades.

Each zone was fully equipped with:

✅ Acoustic barriers to reduce noise disruption for nearby workers

✅ Armorgard cutting stations

✅ OX boxes for safe storage of tools and fixings

✅ Fire prevention measures

✅ Full PPE requirements and controlled safe systems of work

Creating controlled environments like these not only strengthens safety standards, but also highlights the importance of forward planning and consideration for everyone working on site.

Well done again to Paul and the team for continuing to deliver high standards in safety, quality and professionalism throughout the project.

A couple of weeks on from Tilbury Douglas’s fantastic charity golf day at Houghwood Golf Club, and it’s still one we’re talking about at Network Construction Group. ⛳️

With the sun shining and a great atmosphere throughout, it was a brilliant, enjoyable social day that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We were proud to sponsor the 18th hole in support of the event, helping raise vital funds for Wigan & Leigh Hospice. It was a privilege to have the hospice team there on the day, sharing insight into the incredible work they do and the real difference they make to people and families in the community.

A big thank you to Matt Sherry and Max Cooper from British Gypsum for joining our four ball - your contribution definitely helped improve the scorecard!

And finally, huge congratulations to Chloe Roberts, Lucy Bansal and the Tilbury Douglas team for organising such a fantastic event, raising an incredible £21,000+ for such a worthy cause.

A great day for an even greater cause - we’re already looking forward to the next one.

We’re pleased to share the latest progress on the Applebee Wood Community School project for Tilbury Douglas, with some great drone shots captured by NCG last week in the sunshine. ☀️

The SFS package and fire protection to steel are now in their final stages - delivered in record time. This level of progress hasn’t happened by chance; it has been driven by clear programme benefits and a collaborative approach:

- Early collaboration across all parties
- Offsite manufacture of Promat XS boards, precision-cut to steel sizes

This approach has not only accelerated the programme, but also significantly reduced dust-generating activities on site. Early design engagement and the ability to survey steel as it was installed have been key to making this possible.

Scope highlights:

- Fire protection to external columns and beams – Promat XS board
- Fire protection to internal columns and beams – British Gypsum
- SFS – Metsec
- Sheathing board – British Gypsum Glasroc X
- Breather membrane – Obex

With the final sections of breather membrane now being installed, we’re marking completion of the external envelope.

Focus now shifts to the internal works, which are already progressing at pace - while maintaining the quality standards we’re known for.

Looking forward to sharing further updates as the project continues to take shape.

NCG is proud to once again support the Tilbury Douglas Easter Egg campaign across a number of our live sites. 🐣

Donations are being distributed to children at Applebee Wood School, as well as Arrowe Park Hospital and Aintree Hospital. At the hospitals, the Easter eggs will be given to children on the wards, including paediatrics and children’s A&E.

It’s a simple initiative, but one that goes beyond day-to-day works on site, allowing our teams to support the communities connected to the projects we’re delivering. We’re delighted to play a part in bringing some joy to children and families over the Easter period.

Wishing our clients, partners, team and wider network a very Happy Easter from all of us at NCG.

This week, members of our Operations team had the opportunity to attend the voestalpine Metsec Supply Chain Partner Training Course at their headquarters in Birmingham.

As a recognised supply chain partner of voestalpine Metsec SFS, it’s always valuable to spend time strengthening our collaboration while continuing to build technical knowledge across our teams.

The workshop delivered a great mix of learning and hands-on engagement, covering SFS products, best practice installation, material ordering, and on-site supervision and quality checks.

A big thank you to Simon Moore for helping arrange such a well-structured and worthwhile session - it’s hugely appreciated.

One of the standout highlights of the day was the factory tour. Seeing the manufacturing process up close, and meeting the teams behind design, production and order processing, provided real insight and added huge value for our team.

We’re looking forward to continuing to build on this partnership and applying what we’ve learned across our projects.
