🚀 A problem solved, by our own team.
For years, plant operators have battled with daily defect checks - if they could even find the paperwork in their cab, often buried, oil-stained or missing altogether. And when it came to tracking down LOLER or PUWER statutory inspection certificates… that meant phone calls, paper chases and wasted time.
At Prichard's, we decided enough was enough.
Working alongside our IT Department and Plant Management Team, we've built and rolled out a fully digital, in-house solution - at zero additional cost to the business.
📱 How it works:
Every piece of plant now carries its own QR code (see photo). Operators simply scan it with their phone to:
✅ Complete and sign their daily defect check;
✅ Automatically flag any fault straight to the Plant Management Team for action who can see where the machine is and what the defect is.
For supervisors, managers and our Safety Team, scanning that same code unlocks;
🔍 Full history of past daily checks and statutory inspection certificates;
📥 The ability to download checks or certificates for any date range. (Available to authorised personnel)
Site managers and supervisors also get their own management portal, giving them the tools to proactively check that daily inspections are actually happening across their sites - no more chasing paper trails after the fact.
Our internal fitters haven't been left out either, with their own portal to log completed defects and update certification after servicing.
A huge thank you to our IT Department for developing and coding the program and bringing this to life within our company intranet and to everyone across the Plant and Safety teams who helped shape it 🙌🏼
The feedback from site and client's has been brilliant - real proof that listening to the people on the ground and investing in smart, simple tools makes a genuine difference to safety and compliance.
Well done team 👏🏼
