Robinsons Robinsons specialises in the design, manufacture, and construction of premium steel-framed buildings for industrial and agricultural markets.

Guided by your vision, we deliver tailored solutions with unmatched quality and service at every step. Robinsons started supplying steel-framed buildings in 2005 to address the needs of the industrial and agricultural markets. Founded by father and son duo Jim and Ryan Brown, the company was born out of a recognition that there was a lack of reliable steel manufacturing construction companies. Wit

h a commitment to quality service, high standards of workmanship, and excellent customer care, Robinsons set out to fill that gap. Thanks to our highly skilled, vastly experienced, and directly employed workforce, we have successfully achieved Jim and Ryan's vision. Robinsons' talented in-house teams include:

+ Planning & Design
+ Fabrication & Manufacture
+ Groundworks, Concrete Works & Erecting Squads

We also own most of the equipment and plant used on-site, enabling us to offer a seamless and comprehensive service to our customers. Over the years, we have consistently invested in both our team and our premises. We prioritize upskilling and training our team members and have continually expanded and upgraded our manufacturing and office facilities. Alongside our talented workforce, we have a dedicated management team and quality-appraised subcontractors. Our squads and agents across the country ensure we provide first-class service wherever you are based. Our in-house manufacturing facility in Lockerbie allows us to meet bespoke structural steel and cladding requirements directly, while our Cheshire office specializes in providing drawing services for our clients. This integrated approach results in quicker turnaround times and eliminates the need to coordinate with third parties.

Oh we love a container day 😏πŸ”₯

A big crane, a shipping container and a building heading off to the Falkland Islands. What more could you want?

This building is 48m long, 20m wide and 5.5m to the eaves, and it's being packed into 2 x 40' open top containers from our yard and 4 x 40' high cube containers from Kingspan.

We've been supplying buildings to the Falkland Islands since 2011, so this isn't our first container day... although we still get a bit excited about it πŸ˜‚

Away it goes! 🚒

Some serious steelwork... πŸ”₯

This project is right on our doorstep in Dumfries & Galloway, and we've not long finished getting the steel up on Phase 1: a gable end extension with an apex lean-to and monopitch lean-to.

What a mouthful πŸ˜‚

One is 195' x 72' and the other is 180' x 76', both with 15' eaves (rising as per client specification)

The steelwork is galvanised, with fibre cement and HeatGuard on the roof. Concrete works form the cubicle layout, along with a shuttered tank.

And now it's Phase 2's turn.

This one's a serious step up in size, at 412' long, with sections up to 150' wide and a 109' clear-span area.

It's being built around a new parlour, with the collecting yard, cubicles and feed passage all forming part of the design.

Plenty more to come... watch this space πŸ‘€

Throwback Thursday πŸ‘€

One of our bigger projects from 2025, and one we loved seeing come together.

This was a triple-apex agri building, made up of three 120' sections:
πŸ“ 120' x 85'
πŸ“ 120' x 100'
πŸ“ 120' x 92'

All three sections are 14' to the eaves, with a 15Β° roof pitch.

There's an interesting detail in the roof too. Each apex has HeatGuard on one side, with fibre cement on the other and a strip of HeatGuard.

The team at Greenhill Systems Ltd kindly shared this drone footage with us, so we thought we'd dig it out for a wee Thursday throwback.

There's a look at the roof from above, then a quick peek inside...

And by that point, the calves had already moved in! πŸ„

Only nine seconds, but it's a pretty good nine seconds πŸ˜‚

One of our favourites from last year πŸ‘Œ

A good reason to head to Campbeltown…

Sam and Andrew from our Industrial team were recently invited to visit J&A Mitchell & Co’s new bottling hall and dispatch facility.

The new facility has now been up and running for a few months, so it was great to have the opportunity to see the space in use and take a look around.

There was also a special thank you waiting for the team - a 28-year-old Springbank whisky, presented to mark the completion of the new build.

Thank you to the team at J&A Mitchell & Co for having us along, and congratulations again on the new facility.

We’re proud to have played our part in bringing the project to life.

This is going to be a big one.

At 270' x 100' and 16' to the eaves, this is a pretty serious bit of steelwork πŸ’ͺ

The building is being designed around a new rotary parlour, with a collecting yard and return race forming part of the project.

The sides and ends will be clad with box profile sheets, while the roof will use a mix of HeatGuard and fibre cement - giving plenty of natural light while helping to keep heat build-up under control where it matters most.

And there's a huge amount of concrete work involved too, including the rotary parlour works and a shuttered tank.

Nets are going up next week!

We'll keep the updates coming πŸ‘€

WE'RE HIRING! πŸ—οΈ

We're looking for a Contracts Manager to join the Robinsons team.

This is a hands-on role overseeing projects from handover through to completion, working across sites throughout the UK.

You'll be responsible for keeping projects moving, coordinating teams and resources, working with clients and internal teams, managing site requirements and making sure everything is delivered safely, on time and to the right standard.

We're looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role who is organised, confident communicating with different teams and happy to travel as part of the job.

A UK driving licence is essential. CSCS Black Manager Card, SMSTS, First Aid and relevant plant tickets would be an advantage.

Think you could be a good fit?

Now THAT'S a workshop πŸ‘€

This one’s just been finished and it’s looking pretty smart.

πŸ“ 60' x 40' x 14' to eaves
🩢 Anthracite finish
πŸ—οΈ 40mm insulated roof & wall cladding
πŸ’‘ 12 rooflights
🧱 90mm 0.5m high concrete panels to the ends and sides

The insulated cladding and rooflights make it a really practical space for a workshop, while the Anthracite finish gives it a pretty sharp look too.

Another one ready to get to work πŸ‘Œ

You know that question you get asked about a million times when you're younger...

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

We thought we'd see how well the Robinsons team actually stuck to their original plans πŸ‘€

Turns out... not particularly well πŸ˜‚

So as everyone heads back to school this week, good luck to all the pupils, teachers and parents getting back into the routine.

Have a brilliant first day and a great year ahead! πŸ“šβœοΈ

And if you still have absolutely no idea what you want to be when you grow up...

Don't worry. We still don't really know either! πŸ˜‚

First things first... what actually is eaves height?

It's the height from the ground to where the wall meets the roof. So a building with 14' eaves is 14 feet high at the side walls before the roof starts to pitch.

So, what height do you need?

There's no magic number, it just depends on what you're using the building for.

πŸ„ Livestock | 12'–15'
Plenty of room for ventilation and machinery working inside the building.

🚜 Machinery & general storage | 15'–20'
More clearance for tractors and larger kit, with a bit more flexibility for the future.

🌾 Grain & crop storage | 20'+
Useful when you're tipping trailers and making the most of the building's full volume.

And don't just think about what you're putting in the building today.

Machinery gets bigger and needs change.

It's much easier to get the height right when you're designing the building than trying to change it later.

So before we ask how big you want your building, we'll ask what you're going to use it for.

That's what helps us get the specification right.

Got a building in mind? Give our team a shout and we'll help you work out what specification makes sense for you.

There may be some disruption while we're getting everything up and running, and not all of our team will have their new phones straight away.

This means you might not be able to get directly through to the person or department you're looking for.

If that happens, we'll take a message and make sure it gets passed on.
