What an unforgettable evening at the Royal International Air Tattoo at Birmingham International.

An absolutely breathtaking experience one I wish everyone could enjoy at least once. From the stirring brass bands and bagpipes, to the iconic World War I gun-and-ammunition change race between the Navy, Army and RAF, every moment was packed with pride and spectacle. Add in the outstanding dance performances, the Polish police display, and the awards presentations, and it was simply phenomenal.

A huge thank you to Peter Lee, Mayor of Dudley, and his wife Gloria, along with Chris, his son George, and Mike a highly decorated soldier for such a brilliant evening and wonderful company.

I’ll definitely be attending the Tattoo again next time, hopefully bringing an army of RAF supporters with me! ✈️🇬🇧

Proud to support St Martin’s Church in Great Yarmouth 🤍

We recently carried out charity structural support works for this historic church, helping to assess and monitor cracking to ensure the building can be protected for future generations. Our work included professional advice around crack monitoring tell‑tales, movement assessment and guidance on next steps all focused on preservation, not assumptions.

Churches like this are an important part of our local heritage. Fun fact: Great Yarmouth has more medieval churches than the north of Rome a reminder of just how special and historically rich this area really is!

Giving back to local community spaces, places of worship and charities is something we genuinely care about, and we’re always grateful to play a small role in keeping these buildings standing strong.

If you’re involved with a church, charity or community group and have concerns about cracking, movement or structural safety, you may be eligible for support or even free professional advice.

We wanted to take a moment to share something that’s important to us.

As a business, we’ve chosen to support and donate to the RAF Benevolent Fund, a charity that provides vital help to RAF veterans, serving personnel, and their families when they need it most.

Many of us benefit every day from the freedoms and security others have worked and sacrificed for, often quietly, without recognition. The RAF Benevolent Fund supports people facing injury, illness, financial hardship, housing needs, and mental health challenges, long after their service has ended.

This post isn’t about promotion, it’s simply about raising awareness.

👉 It’s well worth taking a moment to learn about the work they do
👉 And if you’re able to donate, volunteer, or share their message, it genuinely makes a difference

We’re proud to support them, and we’d love to help shine a light on the incredible work they do for our armed forces community.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read, share, or support causes like this 💙

Hi everyone👋 , just wanted to share a recent situation we looked at in case it’s helpful to anyone else locally.

We were asked to take a look at an older Victorian house with 1970s extensions where the owners were understandably worried about uneven floors, cracking, and a patio that had started to slope over time. Their main concern was whether this meant subsidence and whether the original house itself was at risk.

After carrying out a proper structural inspection, it turned out the main house was actually in good shape. The movement was limited to the later garage and rear extensions, and it was historic rather than ongoing. That distinction made a big difference for the family, especially with insurance decisions and thoughts about future works or selling.

This kind of situation is really common with older homes and extensions from the 60s–70s. Cracks and sloping floors don’t always mean something serious is happening right now but it’s important to understand what’s historic, what’s stable, and what (if anything) needs action.

If you’re seeing things in your own home that don’t quite feel right and you’re not sure whether to worry, sometimes a targeted structural inspection can give clarity and peace of mind before things snowball with insurers, builders or buyers.

Happy to answer general questions if it helps and hopefully this is useful for anyone in a similar position 😊

Hey everyone, I thought I would share this post for anyone dealing with cracks, drainage issues, or worries about their foundations, this might be useful.

We were recently asked to look at a property where the homeowner had noticed cracking inside and outside the house. While investigating, they uncovered a drainage leak that had been quietly washing soil away beneath part of the footing.

Situations like this can be really unsettling especially when you’re mid‑renovation and trying to decide what needs fixing now versus what can wait.

After inspecting the exposed footing and surrounding areas, it became clear that:

A damaged clay drain had been leaking for a long time

Escaping water had softened the ground and reduced support to one corner of the house

The cracking and door distortion were linked to this loss of support

The rest of the structure was performing as expected

Rather than jumping straight to cosmetic repairs, the sensible approach was:
• Replace the damaged drainage properly
• Strengthen the footing while the area is already exposed
• Reinstate the ground correctly
• Allow time to monitor before repairing cracks

This kind of issue is more common than people realise, especially in older properties with original drainage. Cracks don’t always mean subsidence, but they do mean something has changed, and it’s worth understanding the cause before carrying out repairs.

If you’re in a similar position, seeing cracking, exposed foundations, or drainage problems a structural inspection can help you understand what’s actually happening and what order things should be tackled in.

Happy to share general advice or answer any questions or queries!

🛁 “Will my floor actually hold this?”

That was the concern from a homeowner planning to install a heavy cast‑iron freestanding bath on the first floor, a beautiful upgrade, but one that naturally raised a lot of anxiety.

When you’re investing in your home, the last thing you want is to be left wondering whether something could cause damage months or years down the line.

During our structural inspection, we confirmed that while the floor was performing fine under normal day‑to‑day use, a bath of this size and weight introduces significant long‑term loading, as well as added strain during delivery and installation.

Rather than leaving it to chance, we provided clear, practical advice on how to strengthen the floor properly, ensuring the weight of the bath is safely supported and the home remains protected long‑term.

Sometimes it’s not about whether something can be done, it’s about knowing it’s been done properly.

💬 Planning a bathroom renovation or worried about whether your home can support a change you’re making?
Getting professional advice early can save a lot of stress later.

Did you know a contract can be legally binding over WhatsApp!

A recent High Court ruling has confirmed that agreements made via WhatsApp messages can be legally enforceable even without a formal signed contract.

For clients, developers, contractors, and property owners, this is a serious reminder that casual messages, approvals, or confirmations sent digitally can carry real legal and financial consequences.

In construction and property projects, clarity matters.
Verbal agreements, informal messages, and assumptions can quickly turn into disputes, liability, or unexpected obligations.

This is why clear scope, written agreements, and professional advice are essential before works begin.
