A commercial kitchen does not stop because one piece of equipment breaks. It slows down, scrambles, and waits for someone to fix it.

That someone is usually an expert engineer from Caterglobe.

This time we followed Noel through a full day. Four jobs, three equipment types, oven faults, a dishwasher problem, an ice machine. Each site had its own situation. Each one needed a clean diagnosis and a reliable fix.

Noel has been doing this for over 15 years. The technical range is there. But ask him what he values most about the work and he will tell you it is customer satisfaction.

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗩𝗹𝗮𝗱

We have some fantastic news to share. Please join us in officially welcoming Vlad as a permanent member of the Caterglobe team.

Vlad joined us a short while ago and spent his probation period sharpening his skills. He has adapted to the Caterglobe culture so smoothly that it already feels as though he has been with us for years.

As our new Service Coordinator, Vlad manages the daily schedules of our engineering team with an incredible can-do attitude. His background in the travel industry is a massive asset, translating perfectly into efficient route planning for our engineers on the road.

Outside of work, Vlad is a passionate musician who plays guitar, bass, and provides vocals. He also loves exploring live music gigs and local pubs. In fact, he has a list of all the popular venues in London and around the UK.

We are absolutely delighted to have you with us permanently, Vlad. Welcome
aboard.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲.

The back office maps the access points, checks parking restrictions, plans the delivery window, and coordinates the schedule around the location. Central London jobs can mean 3:00 am starts or 1:00 am finishes, depending on road access, loading bay availability, and the surrounding area. That planning does not happen on the day. It happens days, if not weeks, before.

On the ground, the engineers deal with what no plan fully accounts for. Roads that are busier than expected. Access points that are tighter than the drawings showed. Heavy equipment that has to move through narrow corridors without damaging the site or disturbing the neighbours.

The work is physical. The hours are unsociable. The margin for error is low.

What makes it work is the team behind it. Back office and engineers stay in contact throughout. If something changes on site, the plan adjusts. If a delivery window shifts, the schedule moves with it.

Most clients see a completed job. The logistics that got it there stay invisible. That is the point.

𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹.

Frank joined Caterglobe at the end of last year. He had no exposure to the catering industry before joining. All he had was the willingness to learn. In a few months he turned that willingness into actual achievements.

He has already passed his F-Gas certification and last week completed the Commercial Catering Equipment Electrical Competency Course (CCEECC).

These certifications are just the tip of the iceberg, and we are confident that Frank is going to go a long way in this industry.

Most kitchen breakdowns are not bad luck. They are missed services.

A compressor burnout that costs over £1,500 does not happen overnight. Dirty condenser coils, months of extra strain, then complete failure. The warning signs were there the whole time.

The same pattern runs across refrigeration, ice machines, provers, bread slicers, and ovens. Equipment runs fine until it does not. And when it fails mid-service, the cost is not just the repair. It is the lost covers, the wasted stock, and an engineer call-out at short notice.

Emergency repairs cost three to four times more than planned ones. Planned maintenance does not remove that cost. It just means you pay it on your terms.

Caterglobe runs PPM contracts across commercial kitchens in London and Manchester. If your service schedule has gaps, now is the time to close them.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗥𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁.

Unox UK Ltd gave us a hands-on demo of the Bakertop, their latest release for retail baking. It is a serious piece of kit. The consistency it delivers in a retail environment is worth a closer look for any operator running high-volume baked goods.

We also got eyes on the oven range from Retigo. There is clear development in the cooking technology space right now.

On the people side: congratulations to Ben Ahearn on his appointment as Regional Sales Manager at Sammic SL. Well deserved. Good to catch up with Luke Taylor from MKN and the charming ladies Yvonne Parrish and Jayne Ball from WaterCare UK.

The food was a highlight, too. Unox Ltd., Chef HQ, Millac, and the chefs at the Oatly plant-based live challenge all put on a strong show. It is one thing to see equipment on a stand. It is another thing to watch it perform under real cooking conditions.

𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗙-𝗚𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿!

Frank joined Caterglobe with no background in commercial kitchen engineering, just the willingness to learn.

He stepped into an industry with its own language, its own standards, and very little tolerance for mistakes on a busy kitchen floor. Learning a trade from scratch in that environment takes a particular kind of person.

Over the past few months, Frank trained on the job, worked through the technical theory, and tackled everything the F-Gas certification demands, under the guidance of our senior engineer, Gajan. This week, he passed.

F-Gas is not a box-ticking qualification. It covers the handling of refrigerants that are legally controlled, environmentally significant, and critical to the sites we support every day. Engineers who hold it carry out work that others cannot legally touch.

Frank holds it now.

At Caterglobe, we do not hire for credentials and leave people to figure the rest out. We find people who want to grow, then we make sure they do.

Frank brought the drive. We backed it.

There will be more certificates, more responsibility, and more to learn. That is exactly how it should work.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗟'𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆, 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻.

𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: Archway takes its name from a bridge. John Nash built it in 1813 to carry Hornsey Lane over a road cut through Highgate Hill. It also hosted the first engine-powered cable car in Europe.

GAIL's Archway honours the transport history of the area. The design reflects two sections of the bakery: Junction & Intersection, and the Tram.

And just like the swift transport, the Caterglobe engineering team completed the installation without any bumps or tolls. We delivered all the equipment early morning, commissioned everything by the afternoon, and were back in time for evening tea with GAIL's buttery croissants.

Catering equipment is one of the most male-dominated industries in the UK. The engineers, the sales floors, the boardrooms. The ratio speaks for itself.

To mark International Women's Day, our Managing Director Paula took the women of Caterglobe, plus two guests from our client facilities team, to dinner at The Ivy Soho Brasserie. Exceptional food, perfectly chosen drinks, and desserts that silenced the table.

More than that, it was an evening of real conversation between women who have built genuine careers in a sector that was not designed with them in mind.
