Tackling Shop Theft in North Lincolnshire

As part of a new crime prevention programme with North Lincolnshire Community Safety Partnership, local retailers are being equipped with SelectaDNA property marking kits to help protect high-value and high-risk stock.

The synthetic DNA is visible under UV light and contains unique microdots, allowing marked items to be identified quickly and helping police confirm ownership of recovered goods.

Delivered in partnership with Humberside Police - North Lincolnshire and funded by the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner, the programme is helping local retailers take practical steps to protect their businesses and stock.

Last week, the National Acquisitive Crime Conference 2026 brought together police forces, retailers, local authorities and industry partners for two days of insight, discussion and collaboration.

Held at De Vere Latimer Estate, this year’s conference focused on some of the UK’s most pressing acquisitive crime challenges - including retail crime, tool theft, vehicle crime and cycle crime.

From expert keynote sessions and panel discussions the event highlighted the importance of partnership working, shared best practice and practical action in tackling crime and protecting communities.

A huge thank you to all speakers and delegates who helped make the event such a success.
