There's a big wavy Gyuto coming up on Friday's newsletter knife drop which is looking for a good home.
This has a core of the infamous Blenheim Black high carbon steel, with cladding of pure nickel and mild steel, totalling 25 layers.
As the blade was forged, the layers get all knocked around and twisted with each strike of the hammer, so when you eventually grind the bevels in the blade and reveal those layers, you can see each kink and ripple that was born under the hammer, and the pattern tells the story of how the knife was created.
I think that's just beautiful, don't you?
The handle is dyed Poplar burl, with salvaged Walnut and Atlantic Ocean plastic from Co. Clare.
You can subscribe via the link in my bio of you're interested, and enjoy the sunny day in the meantime!
