Dianthus shinanensis
A native flower of Japan,
its common name, Shinano-nadeshiko,
comes from the historic region of Shinano.
Small and delicate,
yet its soft purple quietly draws the eye.
Set among the white hosta flowers,
its soft purple quietly comes into its own.
A native flower to cherish,
and one we hope will continue to belong here.
