AAI Security, currently have vacancies for service engineers. This document is a full job description. Please read this document in its entirety prior to submitting any documentation.
The Company
AAI Alarms who trade as AAI Security Systems have recently celebrated their 32nd anniversary in the alarm industry. Initially established in January 1988, in Edgware Middlesex, the Business has been expanding ever since.
AAI have gained approval as recognised installers of equipment across the whole security and fire spectrum. Total flexibility of product enhances AAI’s credibility has a ‘Total System’ Company. After sales support is reflected in the continuing expansion of maintenance contracts, now approaching six and a half Thousand’ across the company.
The continued growth of the business, covering a wider range of services to an ever-expanding customer base in high technology industries, demanded a move to larger premises, 1997 seeing the opening of ‘Security House’. Situated on the Stirling Industrial Estate, Borehamwood, this prime position allows excellent access to the major motorways and is still only 20 minutes from Central London.

Quality Assurance
AAI is a NSI/NACOSS GOLD approved company. Being an independent regulatory and certification body NSI/NACOSS ensure that your systems are of the highest quality and reliability. NSI/NACOSS recognition is only awarded after rigorous checks on a company applying for this status.
Membership of The British Security Industry Association Ltd, a self-regulatory trade association, demonstrates AAI’s high standard of quality control, financial soundness and professional competence. AAI have further ensured their high standards by implementing a quality control system gaining approval and certification to ISO 9002, and more recently ISO 9000:2000
The company now requires additional experienced Service Engineer
Security Screening
All employees are employed subject to security screening in accordance with Industry and British Standard Requirements. The applicant must provide full details of their employment details with month and year of each previous position on the company’s application form that will be supplied. All gaps in employment must be identified. Applicants submitting incomplete application forms will not be considered.
Call Out
The company call out rota is one week every six weeks. Whilst on call, the engineers covers the entire company contracted data base. Call Out starts 5 pm on a Friday and ends 9 am the following Friday morning. Engineers HAVE to attend every call that requires an engineer. It is gross misconduct to authorise a remote reset when inappropriate, to issue the company engineer code or to ‘blag’ the client to have an engineer the following day.
All Service engineers have to do one (1) Bank Holiday every year. Christmas and New Year Bank Holidays carried out pro rata
Mobile Phone
All engineers are supplied with company mobile phones/PDA.
Pay
Starting salary £28k to £32k dependant on experience
The OTE for a conscientious engineer is £40K plus per annum.
The starting salary is dependent on experience, which will be reviewed after the 3-month probationary period.
On top of this, each engineer receives £180.00 per month (£2,160.00 per annum) for being on the call out rota.
Engineers, when on call, are paid double time from the time they leave home until they return home.
A commission structure exists to allow engineers to make money on every item that is sold by them (excluding batteries).
Additional over time is readily and freely available.
Wages are paid on the 25th of the month, for the whole month. Overtime and expenses are paid monthly in arrears upon presentation of expense forms and receipts.
Holiday
All employees receive 20 days period holiday per annum. This equates to 1.5 days per completed month of employment.
Sick Pay
The company does not pay sick pay, but may do so at the discretion of the Directors.
Company Vehicle
Service Engineers are provided with a company vehicle..
A Company fuel Card is provided.
Training
The engineers is to be experienced and have a knowledge base for fault finding and industry practice. Training will be provided in Castle Control Units, Smoke Cloak, RedCare & RedCare GSM together with other products where training is required.
The ideal candidate will:
A) Reside in the geographic location in which the post exists.
B) Have at least 5 years experience in maintaining security systems with NSI approved companies. Experience in Scantronic 9100s, 9800, 9600s 9452s & 9500, and Menvier TS510, TS700, TS790, TS900 & TS690s is vital, with experience in Castle Control equipment (Euro Meridian panels) a bonus.
