I’m clearly having a lavender phase right now (the matching shirt wasn’t planned, but here we are 💜).
I’ve been working on this piece for a while, and honestly, it ended up being a lot more personal than I expected.
For a long time, I didn’t even realise I was destroying my own confidence. It wasn’t some big, dramatic breakdown. It was just a quiet, constant habit. I let in other people’s opinions and my own harsh thoughts, and over time, feeling stuck just became the way I lived. I didn’t even notice the heavy chains I was putting on myself.
That’s what this painting is really about. It’s about realising you’ve held yourself back, and doing the slow, hard work of breaking out. Unlearning all that self-doubt doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, and it takes a lot of uncomfortable self-awareness to finally snap those expectations.
I’m really proud of this one. Finishing it felt like a bit more weight lifted.
I still don’t have a name for it, though. Based on the story behind it, what do you think I should call it? Let me know in the comments 👇
