**NON CONFORMITY is now available on Singulart.** 🔗 in bio 👆

30x20 inches framed in wooden canvas floating frame. Mixed media and resin on stretched canvas.

Some paintings begin with a plan. This one began with a refusal.

*Non Conformity* is about resisting the pressure to fit neatly into expectations. In my practice, I work with chemical reactions, pigments and resin, creating conditions where the materials have a voice of their own. The most interesting moments happen when I stop trying to control everything and allow the unexpected to emerge.

This painting is a reminder that growth rarely comes from following the crowd. It comes from questioning, experimenting and embracing the path that feels different.

Some more exciting news from the studio ✨

I’m delighted to share that I’ve been longlisted for the VAA Visual Art Open 2026.

As a self-taught artist, moments like this mean a great deal to me — especially because my practice grew from a slightly bonkers idea: what if I stopped trying to completely control the paint and let chemistry become part of the artist? 🧪🎨

My work brings together pigment, chemical reactions and experimentation. I guide the process, but I can never entirely predict what will happen. Colours separate, cells form, pigments move and unexpected structures emerge. Every reaction creates something that can never be precisely repeated.

To have this work recognised by the Visual Art Open , in partnership with the Visual Artists Association , feels like a lovely milestone in a journey that began simply with curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

Now we wait to see what happens next… 🤞

Who decides that instead of simply painting with pigment, they’re going to introduce chemicals, provoke reactions, surrender a degree of control and see what happens?

Apparently, me. 🧪🎨

But that unpredictability is exactly what drew me in.
I’m fascinated by the moment when chemistry takes over — when pigments move, separate, collide and transform in ways I can influence, but never completely control.

I don’t want to simply paint an image. I want to create the conditions for something to happen.

There’s experimentation. There are failures. There are reactions that behave beautifully and others that seem to have completely different plans.

And somewhere between science, intuition, control and chaos, a painting emerges.

So yes, calling myself a chemistry artist might sound slightly bonkers. But I think the most interesting things often begin with an idea that makes people say:
“You’re doing what?” 🧪

I’ve heard that as an artist you should stick to one medium and style of work but exploring is in my DNA. I love all forms of mediums and currently discovering how I can use encaustic to elevate my work. Still in the process of playing and testing but it’s a beautiful medium for artists to give a go. This is a result of one of my play sessions with the medium.

Having a play with round and oval canvases for my next series.
