I will keep this rant very short (this time).

Please take a look at my photos of a property in Lowestoft that has caused a lot of recent media outrage and is currently under police investigation (apparently).

Someone has hung a net down the front of a building, not attached the sides so the endangered kittiwakes can get behind the net, get trapped or worse.

This type of illegal stupidity hurts our whole profession.

With the media and public out to criticise everything we do, no matter how professional and correct our work is, we will be seeing netting coming under licence considerations in the same way glueboards went.

We are still alive at Reaper Bird Control Ltd. 😁

Many thanks to several of you who have dropped us messages to see where we have disappeared to with a special shout out to Defender Bird Spikes for checking in on us today.

We are still here, just halfway through a 6 week gigantic industrial hazardous waste cleandown far away from home.

We will be back to posting regularly from the 29th of this month as we return to bird control again with another commercial guano cleandown booked 😂

No escaping it.

Reaper Bird Control Ltd hopes everyone is having a great bank holiday.

We have been enjoying a lovely little church proofing and cleaning job in Thetford as we pass through Suffolk/Norfolk on our way to spend a few more weeks away in Grantham on a big project. (details to follow)

Bird proofing a chimney? The quick tip is always to work from the top down 🏠🐦

👑 Defender Crown is designed to protect the very top of the chimney pot or cowl, whether it is capped or open. It stops birds from perching on this prime look out point. But that is only half the story 👀Complete bird proofing means looking at the whole stack.

Once Defender Crown is installed, check the rest of the chimney stack 🔍 Defender Bird Spikes, whether for pigeons or gulls, should be fitted on the flaunching around the base of the pots, including the spaces between them where determined birds may try to nest.

Do not be tempted to leave gaps at the corners or through the middle. Birds will find them 🐦

Next, look at the back of the stack. If there is evidence of previous nesting, consider Defender Irritator alongside an interlocking mat of Extreme Gull for added protection.

Finally, install Defender Ridge Spikes along the full length of the ridge tiles, curved or angled, to humanely move birds onto easier, more accessible properties 🏘️

Happy 1st birthday Reaper Bird Control Ltd .

I would love to be humble and say that I have no idea how we have achieved this milestone in our company.

However, it has all been down to our amazing customers and our contractors that have put faith in Craig Hoult and myself to deliver the high standards in bird management that we strive for and to continuously meet your expectations.

Thank you to all of our suppliers that have looked after us especially as a new company and supported us through the harder times with great advice and additional work.

All of the above gave us the opportunity to grow with enough strength in the industry to take on Connor Jackson, our first technician by month 10.

And lastly a huge thanks to all of the staff at the British Pest Control Association (too many of you now to mention individually).

The staff at the BPCA have been relentless in ensuring Reaper has been the best version of itself.

And Craig would kill me if I didn't thank all of our friends and family of course.

Some jobs are worth waiting for.

Reaper Bird Control Ltd finally got the go ahead on the 8th of this month after over a year of waiting to net over a two level void to protect the plant area from ingressing pigeons on a very bespoke building in Cambridge.

The stanchions and clamps were provided by Stefon Farwell at SDF Bird Proofing Products Limited who was promised this work over a year ago when we first surveyed it.

It always feel too easy when using railing poles and clamps, but the results speak for themselves.

This was an amazing job for Connor Jackson our new technician to learn and practice a multitude of basic and more advanced skills.

The door was Killgerm Chemicals Ltd .
And we ended up using a lot of Fix-a-net to really tidy up any netting that crosses plant and other structures when standard fixings are not allowed, so thanks to John Raby for making that a go to tool in the box.

Including guano cleaning and a lot of slow moving logistical challenges on site to get materials to the roof, inductions, waiting on other trades etc, the job was completed in under 3 days.
