This is ‘Home’, the second in our series of monitor concepts that aim to enrich the spaces they occupy.

The concept has been directly inspired by our time ‘working from home’ where our studio monitors impose themselves on our living space. This led us to think about how a more domestic design approach and material palette, in this case inspired by furniture craftsmanship, could create a new visually inspiring solution.

The timber structural mast terminates in a ‘branch’ that is jointed and expressed with a simple, minimal furniture construction motif. This is simple design expression brings beauty and simplicity to an area of monitor design that is often an overly expressive, aggressive corporate styling.

Check back on Friday when we continue to reveal more signature details.

We are proud to have played a small part in the early development of the design team at Helix - a joint venture between The Royal College of Art, Imperial College London under the Directorship of Professor the Lord Ara Darzi of Denham, UK Health Minister. Helix became the first professional design team within a front line NHS hospital working directly with patients and clinicians to optimise future healthcare experiences. Building on our relationship with the RCA and our sensitivity for Inclusive Design the Rodd team provided design mentoring to the newly formed team during their first 12 months as they developed their principles. . . . — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2tIjJNf
