An incredible effort from Kevin Delaney, Jason Singleton & Tony McFarlane who recently took on the challenge of wing walking — with some even stepping it up further by completing acrobatic wing walking!

This challenge was all in support of Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that is incredibly close to our hearts at Opus Utility Solutions Ltd & SP Energy Networks.

The reason behind this challenge is deeply personal to us all. Our colleague; Paul Triggs’s daughter is currently battling leukaemia, and seeing the strength and courage shown by both Paul and his family has inspired those around them to rally together and raise funds for such an important cause.

To willingly stand on the wings of an aircraft while it performs aerobatics takes a huge amount of courage — and the commitment shown by Kevin, Jason & Tony to support this cause has been nothing short of outstanding.

We originally set ourselves a fundraising target of £5,000, and we’re incredibly proud to say that thanks to the amazing generosity and support shown by everyone, we have now raised an incredible £5,270.

A massive well done to the three of you from everyone across Opus Group and SP Energy Networks. Your efforts, bravery and support for Paul and his family are truly appreciated.

🚨 New Contract Award 🚨

We’re proud to announce the award of one of the most significant electricity distribution projects in the UK — the Shawfair to Whitehouse 33kV Kaimes GSP reinforcement project in Edinburgh, delivered for SP Energy Networks.

This is the largest distribution project awarded by SP Energy Networks, involving the installation of more than 130,000 metres of 33kV cable & fibre across a 10.3km route, helping to strengthen and future-proof the local electricity network for years to come.

Works are due to commence within the next month, with a 15-month delivery programme ahead.

Being selected as the delivery partner for a project of this scale is something we are extremely proud of. It reflects the trust placed in Opus Utility Solutions Ltd and reinforces our position in the market as a leader in delivering both framework contracts and major infrastructure projects across the UK.

Our teams continue to demonstrate the capability, expertise, and commitment required to deliver complex projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards for our clients and the communities we serve.

Following our recent audit, we’re delighted to have received a full clean bill of health — a testament to the strength of our systems, processes, and people.

One comment from the auditor particularly stood out:

This recognition reflects the high standards we set across the business and our continued commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, and health & safety excellence.

Full credit goes to our Compliance and H&S Team who led the audit with professionalism and precision. Equally, this achievement belongs to our wider operational and support teams, who consistently demonstrate strong adherence to process, governance, and best practice in everything they do.

On 31st May 2026, 11 members of will be taking on the Great Manchester Run (10km) — pushing themselves physically and mentally, all for a fantastic cause.

At Opus, we’re incredibly proud to support our communities and grassroots sport—helping to give young people the opportunity to compete, stay active, and build lasting friendships.

Each year, we invest tens of thousands of pounds into local groups and individuals, supporting their ability to perform and progress. But for us, the most important outcome isn’t just results—it’s ensuring these young people enjoy the journey, have fun, and make the most of the opportunities in front of them.

It’s been fantastic to see some recent successes:

👏 Rosa Hogan – representing Sale United FC Lionesses, reaching the latter stages of a global tournament in Barcelona. An incredible achievement. Competing with Academy teams from China, Holland, France, Bolivia & many more. Finishing in a very strong 3rd position. Well done Sale 💪🏻

👏 Unicorn AJFC – reaching a cup final to be played this May. Best of luck to the team—we’re right behind you.

👏 SK Nukes Aces – making it through to the U19 Community Final. A brilliant effort and a great milestone for the group.

There are so many success stories across our communities, but the real success lies in participation—giving as many young people as possible the chance to get involved, stay active, and be part of something positive.
