Proposal for a new build home in the Western Lakes. Utilising natural materials such as stone, timber and slate the design references the local rural vernacular whilst establishing its own identity and responding to the specific needs of the client and site orientation.

An upside down layout provides elevated living spaces at first floor benefitting from views out across the landscape from a recessed balcony at the rear.

A great context to be working in.

Taking a look back at our Hillingdon Houses project in Stretford, south Manchester.

The scheme is a contemporary take on the traditional semi-detached typology, providing a bespoke family home for our client on one side with the other able to accommodate their parents. The pair of homes make better use of a previously under utilised brownfield site which contained a low quality single storey property. The increased density and scale fills a gap in the streetscape and provides a counterpoint to the traditional 1930’s housing adjacent. The facade incorporates a variety of brick details alongside green window frames to give the elevations depth, shadow and character.

Great photography as ever from .

We’re currently working through the technical design of this contemporary extension to a 1960’s home in Wilmslow. The material palette features a pale buff brick from offset by vertical charred larch cladding by . Along with with russet coloured glazing, this combination gives the house a striking new identity that still references the original 1960’s aesthetic.

Excited to see this all come together on site.

Nice to see our Little Orchard project from a different perspective. The angular form and bespoke design of the rear extension is in marked contrast to the traditional look of the original house from the front, signifying a new addition that embraces the extensive garden setting. The cranked floorplan reorientates the living spaces to give our clients full length views down the plot for the first time.

Big thanks to for the drone footage and for doing such a great job with the build.

We’re delighted to have had consent granted for this contemporary extension to a 1960’s home in Wilmslow following a positive planning process with .

The project involves a part double, part single storey rear extension along with internal remodelling and new facade treatments. The stepped plan creates an external courtyard space which connects the two extensions and mediates between inside and out. This allows the enlarged family kitchen/diner located at the centre of the plan to opens up to the garden via a canopied terrace.

The proposal adopts a new visual language to the rear elevation adding depth, colour and contrast to what is currently a rather plain, flat facade.

The new internal layout includes an open-plan kitchen dining space, an adjacent play area, separate living room, home office and additional bathrooms/en-suite.

Can’t wait to get started on site with this one….
